massage chair

I've got a question. In one of the malls they had some massage chairs but on one was a note posted warning about pacemaker use. Is there any problem with using a massage chair? It give you a full body deep tissue massage. Does anybody know?

Home Monitoring- Important Feature?

I was offered a PM(Biotronik) with Home Monitoring. Is this an important feature? Do those of you who have it, use it?
I'm not sure I'm sold on Biotronik. Only because I haven't really heard of them too often..

Pilots in Club

Hi,

I had my pacemaker implant on August 1, 2013. I am an airplane pilot and am grounded by the pacemaker implant. I understand that I may be able to get an FAA Special Issuance Medical Certificate. I also understand that the FAA requires a 60 day recovery period; then a 24 hour Holter Monitor report, an echocardiogram, a stress test, a Complete Blood Count lab test report, and innumerable doctor reports. Are there any pilots in the club who have been successful in getting an FAA...

Differences

Such a great group. One thing I haven't seen discussed is how reactions differ depending on age. Some of you are so young, some even teenagers. Tracey, you mentioned you were 47, Don is 77, Smitty 84 and it seems the younger people are, the more positive in attitude once their fear has subsided. I wonder why that is. Sometimes I read about everything that you are accomplishing and feel wow, what is the matter with me. And then I think listen at 83 if I didn't have a pacemaker, I would not have...

A big NO NO.. I learned the hard way that alcohol and heart disease dont go together.. I had my first drink when i was 14.. It was a beer.. and even though knowing my condition i got into it.. On my 16th birthday i got drunk for the first time.. by age 18 i was an " experienced" drinker.. gobbling down on a bottle of brandy.. piece of cake.. but now when im 19.. i have been alchol free for 2 months after something suddenly told me in my head STOP !.. so i did.. the brighter side

from my list of things that make heart disease the gift that keeps on giving for me:

I have no less that 5 nifty zip closure NYU tote bags each complete with a clear toiletries bag and a fresh pair of those amazing hospital socks with the treads on the bottom.

=)

Anyone else have a little ray of silly sunshine?

Almost afraid it won't happen

I am on cardizem because Toprol was causing too many issues. Since going on cardizem, I have had an Svt episode on nearly a daily basis with the most violent being 240bpm for over 20 minutes and causing great fatigue. I am scheduled for a second cardiac ablation in October and the electro physiologist has stated that I will more than likely leave the hospital with a PM. I wore a holter monitor back in May which showed my HR running between 35 and 59. I am 60 years old and not athletic. I sent m...

feeling morbid

I'm turning 40 in six months. I had my PM put in on July 1 for 3rd degree heart block. I had open heart when I was 30 due to an ASD that no one knew I had until then. I was told that because my ASD repair was so close to the electrical node, it isn't surprising that it eventually failed.

So I think I'm having a midlife crisis. ;) In many ways I feel like I'm still a kid and I've never really grown up, and now another part of me feels like I'm at the point where I should be prepared t...

Ectopic beats or blood pressure?

Hi everyone,

I'd love some advice, I've had my pm coming up 4 years for SSS and occasionally I'll get a really quick dizzy spell and feel a bit breathless for a second or two. It happened again this week and began worrying me a little because I could feel my heart going a little fast too.

I end up seeing my cardiologist who did a pm check and said that nothing that showed up, that I'm 'disgustingly healthy' and I'm pacing less that 1%. He then mentioned something about blo...

Good morning all

Sorry for not posting much lately. Just been having a hard time along with a bunch of other things going on. I'm hanging in there though I still been having a bit of trouble with fluid weight. Having my weight swing 15 lbs in a week has took it's toll on me. Also, I feel like the Dobutamine is not working that much anymore. I'm not due to go back to the clinic till the 28 of the month. Had to call in my nurse yesterday due to feeling beat and to much fluid weight. I do feel a bit better after a...

Any problem going to the dentist ?

Hello all, does anyone have any problem or experience to share with going to the dentists? I mean, are there limitations to what the dentists can do if you have a PM? Would any of the equipment affects the PM? I appreciate any input. Thank you and have a great day.

Getting pacemaker next week

I have signed up my mom to this site hoping that she will use it for support and information after her surgery. She has questions that probably no one can answer except the people on this site. I wanted to introduce her a little bit. Her name is Betty Freeman and she is 83 years old. The doctor told her yesterday that she needed a pace maker because a part of her heart isn't working. She will go into surgery next Friday. Any suggestions or sharing of experiences would be appreciated. How can I h...
