This is an interesting talk about the possible connection between air pollution and heart troubles. As well as talking about sudden heart attacks in young athletes.

Hello again everybody !! I survived 7weeks of Vancomycin IV treatments for lead infection after another pacemaker erosion, my 5th since 1992. As both my left & right chest area were lo longer suited for another implant I am now hosting my 6th pacemaker in my lower abdomen right side. As this is a new experience & also a very comfortable under muscle implant with leads going into my lower groin to my heart.
As I have an appointment with my surgeon later this week for interogation I would...

Hello everyone! I am so glad I found this site. I am 30 years old and had my dual chamber pacemaker installed on May 16, 2013. It was not an expected procedure at all! It started when I was diagnosed with an ASD at 24 yrs old. I had traditional open heart on Sept. 30, 2009 to close the hole, and all was well...I thought. Turns out they say I "short circuited" my electrical system. Still not quite sure what that means. I had about 3 ablations and was told I would need a pacemaker "someday". I...

Good afternoon,
I've been on Amiodarone for a little over 4 months...800mg to 400mg and now 200mg a day for the past 6 weeks.
I'm curious for those on this medication...how long have you been on it...and any side effects?
Has anyone had to stop taking it??? Is there an alternative if one has to come off of it.
My question I suspect only applies to those with ICDs???
Thanks alot!
Ron

I got a pm 3 weeks ago and was doing great. Had it reprogrammed twice last week and since the last change have a hammering sensation with each beat I can feel in my neck, back, throat, and chest. My EP told me to come back to the office tomorrow and wants to do a device check, X-ray, and echo. My GP is concerned a lead has come loose. I am being paced at 60 so the rate isn't too fast but seems abnormally forceful. This is a new symptom so I'm wondering what's up. Any advice?

I frequently suffer from itchiness around my pacemaker. It is very annoying. Does anyone else have this problem? I have had my pacemaker for 16 months.

Hi all. I received my PM June 11. Recovery was going well. At 4 weeks PO I had a mishap. Someone tripped in front of me as i was sitting and reflexively I reached out and caught her so she didn't fall right onto me. It happened in a split second. I used my left arm which basically had been immobile 4weeks. It seems I may have torn my pectoral muscle under PM. Doc had me watch and wait a week. No improvement. Pain is unbearable at times. Right after, I had a couple days of brady symp...

hi, I am on my third PM which I got implanted 5-6 weeks ago. To be honest I had my 2nd PM for 12 years so cant really remember how I long I took to adjust to it. I had an AV node ablation prior to my first device 20 years ago which makes me pacemaker dependant. Just after this implant I had crippling palpitations (not fast but thumping in my chest) which eased a little but are still bothersome. I can have episodes which last for 3 days and then get peace for a couple of days but they come bac...

Question about heart rate. Dr is really concerned about my heart rate going to low because Iam on rythmol my question that I can't seem to find answer for is how low?? I am keeping careful watch over it and probably sometime in the next couple weeks I'll be going back to see him. But until I do is there some kind of number to watch for? Iam on the drug because my heart goes into A-flutter and they are trying to control it He hasn't ruled out the possibility of a PM and we talked more about i...

Hello, friends,
I made a research but couldn't come to a conclusion. Is the medic alert symbol and international one? I live in Brazil and I confess that I have never seen anywhere the symbol of the red cross with a snake intended to be an alert for health care providers. Of course that the snake is the symbol for medice. While searching the symbols on the internet, I saw many different ones, including different colours (green and light blue). I know that certain symbols are very widely rec...

Good afternoon,
Does anyone have any experience with Bach Flower Remedies...specifically "Rescue Remedy"...for anxiety???
Everyone keeps suggesting that I try it to relieve PTSD symptoms...even two of my PTSD psychologists I've seen in the past 4 months. I have yet to discuss it with my EP; I have however, discussed the possible contraindications with my current medications with a pharmacist...who didn't want to commit and stayed neutral.
My meds:

I received my BSC Advantio PM on Monday due to bradycardia and chronotropic incompetence. Before the PM, my resting HR was 35 and I could not get it above 80. Around 8:30-9:00 AM every morning, I would just hit a wall and not be able to do a thing. Now, a few days post-op I feel much better and overall have more energy that I have had for a long time. But, I am still hitting that 8:30 AM wall, it is just not quite as bad and does not last as long. I am trying to force myself to push thru it...

That is my question.
I am due for a colonoscopy. It's been 3 years and I am due since they found and removed 3 polyps the last time.
My problem is the device rep. I had a procedure (not heart related) 4 months ago and the rep did not want to do his job. He wanted to use a magnet instead of programming my device into the safety modes. So my concern is I am going to get this same rep again for this procedure. If I do, I am walking out and I don't want to waist the Doct...
