Constant thumping

I got a pm 3 weeks ago and was doing great. Had it reprogrammed twice last week and since the last change have a hammering sensation with each beat I can feel in my neck, back, throat, and chest. My EP told me to come back to the office tomorrow and wants to do a device check, X-ray, and echo. My GP is concerned a lead has come loose. I am being paced at 60 so the rate isn't too fast but seems abnormally forceful. This is a new symptom so I'm wondering what's up. Any advice?

Possible Diaphramitic Pacing

Have you double checked with your Dr. This could be a slight shift in wiring causing pacing in the wrong place ie: diaphragm, it's something I've had in the past- do get those tests, it is very disconcerting to have to go through that as you have figured out! I'm sending happy thoughts your way, keep us posted :)

Yes, very possible

But I would also ask your Doc to check the last change in programming since you said these sensations occurred since the last change. Maybe change it back and see if it stops.

Just a thought.

Hope your Doc gets you sorted out.

I'll know more tomorrow after the tests. Thanks for your posts, it makes me feel less alone in this journey.

I couldn't take the lower heart rate

by iris986 - 2013-07-23 11:07:54

My first checkup since my pacemaker implant on the 27th of June this year. The heart rate had to be st up to 80 as the lower heart rate was making me sick and I could feel every beat in my neck when it was below 77. It took about 3 days to right itself afterwards, but i feel better than i did, and so far am off meds for low blood pressure. i still feel very tired in the afternoons and downright horrible in the evenings, but hopefully all will pass, i go back in 2 weeks for another check.

I will let you know, thanks for the concern. I am a distance runner(not particularly fast) and they are working with me to increase response rate for running. The increase shot my rate into the 150's so they lowered the upper limit to 140 and took the slope down one level. I think if they can take it down another notch things may improve. Trying hard to find a balance in the settings for my level of activity as I'm training for my next half marathon. I did 2 last month, one 4 days prior to surgery. My cardio told me she didn't know how I could have done them before the pm. Right foot, left foot repeat. Hoping life with a pm speeds that up! I'm a she by the way !

Please post and let us know what happens, never know when it could happen to one of us, and besides after a post like that it stays as a nagging question is he all right? Thanks Jean

You know you're wired when...

You have a dymo-powered bike.

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didn’t slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
