Memorial Day thanks and sadness.

First of all, a big thank you too all of our armed forces, both now and in days gone by. I deeply appreciate your service to our country.

I'm feeling sad and thankful today. Four years ago my nephew committed suicide on this day. Only 21, he worked himself into a spot that seemed untenable and saw no way out. He felt alone but was not. He's was not my blood nephew but I am an only child and his mom and I have been the best of friends, really sisters, since we were both in juni...

Dominant side PM

Has anyone out there had a pacemaker inserted on your dominant hand side? I've had a PM on the left for @ 4 months with terrible pain and left shoulder impingement. A different dr. wants to take it out and move it to the right side. The leads are causing pain, too. He thinks this change MIGHT help. I rest on my right side and am concerned about being able to lie on that side after re-placement.

Vacation w/High Altitude - No Problems :)

Well I survived with no issues with my PM. We traveled to Denver, Gypsum, Beaver Creek, Avon, Vail, Leadville, Minturn, Camp Hale, Wolcott and Glenwood Springs, Co.

We even made the trek to the top of Independence Pass with an elevation of 12,095 feet above sea level.

I didn't have any issues at all, the PM worked like a charm and I made sure to drink plenty of water while out in CO.

I just wanted to thank all my fellow PM Club members who gave me plenty of g...

Is it too soon?

I had my PM 7 weeks ago and feel great. We were thinking about taking our boys to either Six Flags over Texas or Hurricane Harbor (Water Park) this weekend. Is it too soon for me to ride roller coasters or the slide and tube rides at the water park? Just not sure.

I got the job!!

Hi all
I have VERY exciting news for you all......I've just heard that I got the job I applied for at our local hospital. Wow, I am SO pleased!!

I applied to join the Staffbank (bank staff, so you work when needed) a few weeks ago.....they want people for admin roles within the hospital. On the "bank" you can choose the admin jobs you want, some last a week, some a month, some several months. You don't get holiday pay or sick pay, but the salary is enhanced to reflect this. When...

Morning all

Just a quick update. Had the right heart cath done late yesterdays afternoon. Good new is that my heart output is fairly close to my numbers from last year. Not great, but making me hang in there. I'm still waiting for my crazy doctor to come in today to rub that in her face.

Now a bit of bad new if anyone here is on Medicare and ever needs to be placed on Dobutamine. Even though I been on it for the pass 16 months, for Medicare to approve it for me, they had to do that right cath to...

34 and just found out I have complete heart block

Hi everyone :)
I just found this website and I am very thankful as I am not sure who else to get advice from except my cardiologist!
Recently I was diagnosed with complete heart block. I am 34 years old and have never had any symptoms (no dizzy spells/fainting/lethargy, and my job is very active). My cardiologist told me yesterday I should make a decision as to whether I should get a pacemaker or simply carry on with life without one - but I could suddenly 'drop dead' if I don't get o...

Too irregular today :-(

My heart rhythm is more irregular than usual today (permanent Afib) so much so l am not going into work (not like me)
l don't like giving in to it but l think it is probably sensible to let it have the upper hand now & then.
Just made me think about hospital appointments that l have not had this year.l had my valve replaced 25yrs ago & every year in January l have an "echo" to check its doing its job but no appt' this year so far, no appt to see cardiologist either just my PM check in...

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
