My heart rhythm is more irregular than usual today (permanent Afib) so much so l am not going into work (not like me)
l don't like giving in to it but l think it is probably sensible to let it have the upper hand now & then.
Just made me think about hospital appointments that l have not had this year.l had my valve replaced 25yrs ago & every year in January l have an "echo" to check its doing its job but no appt' this year so far, no appt to see cardiologist either just my PM check in July. l have tried to chase these missing appts' but my cardio' has retired & its impossible to get any answers from anyone, maybe l will try again today or maybe more sensible to wait until l feel up for the "Fight" :-)
The other thing that has annoyed me is...........................its ages since l have been off work sick & the weather is rubbish, cold wet & windy, nice bit of warm sunshine would have been good & my neighbours have got the builders in so lots of banging going on..................lets hope l can escape to work tomorrow :-)

PS, Keeping my fingers crossed for you today Janey

Still feeling irregular but will have an early night & l am sure l will be ok in the morning.
I used to have intermittent Afib & flutter & had a sucessful ablation for the flutter but kept popping in & out of Afib. The last cardioversion l had put me in heart block & subsequent permanent Afib, that was about 4yrs ago. l had the PM to help the bradycardia l was getting & just get a lot of missed beats now which normally l can cope with but today was a bit tougher than usual. The cardio' & the EP both told me l will never get back into sinus rhythm & thats ok, it could be worse.
Maybe having this " off day " will make me more determined to chase up these appts ( just in case)
l suppose l have been feeling as though l don't need to see anyone since l had my PM because it got rid of the worst part of the Afib (for me) which was the slow heart rate but l will do the sensible thing & get things sorted.
Thanks again for your comments & Janey l will keep fingers crossed until you tell me different :-)

It must be rotten having permanent a fib ! I'm sure you must have tried everything.... drugs , cardio version , ablation; and a PM : all to no avail ?
I'm curious ; can you minimise the chances of having bad days by avoiding known trigger factors.. caffeine , alcohol, smoking etc or does permanent afib not work that way ? ( If it does then I suggest you only have a skinful when the weather forecast for the next day is good. ! )
Your medical care shouldn't come to an end when your cardio retires ; can you not fix up an appt to see his replacement; I'm sure your GP would help to make sure that you are on somebody's books

I'm SO sorry to hear you are feeling bad today. I know that it is definitely not like you not to go into work, you must be feeling really bad. I do hope you rhythm settles down soon.
About your appointments, can you contact your retired Dr's sec? Maybe she could help? It's not good enough that you have been left with no appts & having to chase them all up yourself. That's really bad.
Thank you for keeping your fingers crossed for me today! I had my interview this morning. It was actually quite hard, they asked me 4 pages of interview questions!! Luckily my daughter had been doing practise interviews with me this week so she had sort of prepared me for tricky questions! I answered them all as best I could & they seemed happy with my answers. It was quite difficult thinking "on the spot". But I used lots of examples from my previous NHS job, which is what they wanted......patient confidentiality, handling distressed patients, dealing with demanding Consultants (LOL), previous admin roles......lots of questions they asked me. The interview was 30 mins. They said they will let me know by tomorrow if I've got the job. Please continue to keep your fingers crossed for me! Thanks.
Hope you feel better soon Sue. I'm thinking of you....

Thanks Tat', must be your shortest post EVER.
Whats up? have you run out of daftness? Nah, l doubt it, but thankyou anyway.
Am feeling more "normal" today, so will be going to work in a min' & l have made a promise to myself to follow up those "missing" appts' next week.
Have a good weekend :-)

My daughter is waiting to hear about 2 jobs today too. Had her interviews in the week & should hear today.

Is it atrial fibrillation?
by Selwyn - 2013-05-23 02:05:06
Just because it feels like atrial fibrillation doesn't mean that it is! I certainly have gone from atrial fibrillation to atrial flutter and there are many other irregular and fast/ normal heart rates. The sooner flutter is sorted the better.
Time to get an ECG( ? EKG USA) done ! The sooner the better.
Wishing you well.
