Merlin Pacemaker Monitor

Does anybody know if a Merlin monitor can be converted from land-line usage to cell? The Merlin is the only reason I am keeping my land line. I appreciate any and all answers.

Not sure what's going on

In September of 2012, I had my PM replaced; I'd had it for 8 years. I knew from the get-go that something wasn't right. My daughter is a nurse and when she changed the dressing, she too, knew it wasn't right. It was extremely high and the pain was unbelievable. When I went back two weeks after for my post-op checkup, the NP said it looked like I would have to have a pocket revision "but let's give it a few months". The pain was unbelievable; couldn't raise my arm up, couldn't be on my left side,...

SVT - AV Node ablation with pacemaker

I am 24, with SVT and have had 2 ablations since I have been diagnosed 2 years ago. I have been on many different beta blockers to regulate my heart rate (it peaks to the 170s a couple times a day) and often just races for no reason. After each ablation I was okay for about 6 months before experiencing a regrowth and ended up back on the meds both times. Once on the medication, it seems my body gets used to them after 3-4 months which leads to the drs increasing the mg which causes my blood pres...

newly diagnosed

My name is Denise. I'm 35. I never thought I'd be joining a site like this. Today I found out I may have to get a pacemaker. I'm a nurse, but still freaked out. I have a long medical history most of which is not cardiac related. I'm used to caring for my patents who have cardiac problems. I have symptomatic bradycardia. My cardiologist said there are no meds I can take for it. He is waiting to get the results of my holter monitor. He will decide what to do April 3rd. I have other batteries impla...

Pookie's Cancer Surgery

Hi Everyone,

Well I had a bit of luck - my kidney cancer surgery was scheduled for April 2nd, but now it has been changed to this coming Monday, March 25th - the day before my 51st birthday. Wouldn't be the 1st time I've been in hospital on that day. Last year I was in for Sinus surgery on my husband's birthday - I think I have a birthday/surgery theme happening.

Today I met with the Anestheologist and it was a LONG meeting. This is gonna be MAJOR surgery. Today is the...

One pale arm

Hi,
I've had my Medtronic pacemaker since 2/2012 due to afib with tachy/brady syndrome. For the last few weeks I've noticed, especially in the morning, that my right hand and arm are paler in color and the left hand and arm are always red. No swelling or change in sensation just pale...then when I get in the shower with the hot water it's even more noticeable. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen? Maybe it's totally unrelated to the PM. I've also had frozen shoulder on the righ...

Tired

Hello- I am new to the club and had a PM put in a couple of months ago. I have recently returned to work and have found that at the end of the day I am extremely tired. My job is demanding and hectic however if when I am home during the weekend I find myself taking naps and sleeping many hours. Is this normal? Should I be concerned?

Thank you,

Tawny

Transplant Clinic

Yesterday I had my 1st appt at the Heart Transplant clinic. I got to meet the whole transplant team. I met with one of the surgeons, I had already met with the other transplant surgeon, and he came to the same conclusion my doc and the other surgeon did. They have tried everything possible on me and the only thing left is a heart transplant. They will be setting up appt's for the rest of the tests needed to be listed. I've already had 6 of the 19 tests in the evaluation process.

The Pacemaker and heart

I had a pacemaker installed in December, 2012 and a recent fist visit to the pacemaker clinic for the required checkup. All was found to be fine. After a little adjustment in voltage, I can still feel when the pacemaker does "kick in." The techician said some persons are more sensitive than others.

MY QUESTIONS:
1. Do I assume when the pacemaker "kicks on" that my heart is falling below the 60 beat minimal preset level?
2. I also have Ocular Myasthenia Gravis (OMG), and the...

Any tweens have complete HB and PM?

My son has complete HB and a PM. I want to know if there are other tweens that he can relate to on this board. We are facing our next surgery soon. We have had three PMs and need to choose one that will be great for a golfing teen and young man. Any help? Good models, bad, ugly?!!!

Hip Replacement Surgery

This is a good hospital with caring Doctors, Nurses and staff.

The Boston Scientific rep showed up before the surgery as promised. The Anaesthesiologist asked the rep how he wants to do this. He said "I'm going to put a magnet over it, that's the easiest way". I explained I didn't want the easiest way, I want the safest way. He was also planning to leave and not be there to reprogram the settings back to where they were before the surgery. And then it began...

How good is your heart surgeon ?

This is really aimed at people in the UK but it is encouraging for all of us that there is a trend towards greater transparency from the medical profession .

A new website was launched here in the UK yesterday by the Society for Cardio thoracic surgery. which enables heart patients to check online how many times their surgeon has performed their operation and how well it went. Leading UK cardiac centres are listed and cardio thoracic surgeons are listed by name. Death rates, succe...

Hello

Hi to everyone in the pacemaker club!! I am a new member but have been pouring over the great information I came across on this site for a couple weeks now. I do not have a pacemaker, yet, but Cardio Dr. said that is the next step. Like with any unknown - I'm really nervous about this. This is a forever step - no going back. I will tell you why I have ended up with this stage of my life and I will try to make it short...
I have 'bouts of A-Fib since the early 1980's - told I had Mitral...

Traditional vs Ceramic PMs

Hey gang, was listening to an interesting debate today between two cardiologists on (Medtronic) traditional and MRI compatible PMs. The "nay" was arguing against ceramic basically saying that there are still a lot of bugs to iron out, specifically citing issues with leads (too stiff and other issues?). The "yay" said those "lead" issues were resolved about "four months ago" and no longer posed any kind of a problem. "Yay" said ceramic is for younger people who may encounter knee/hip etc. problem...
