Hello again... I was curious following your posting and have done a few searches. This is from a NHS site :-

" You will need to inform the DVLA and your Motor Insurance Company that you have a pacemaker fitted. However your insurance company should not increase your premiums. "

Best of luck

Hi, As above, just have to inform Swansea and insurance co'. However they did ask me for the reason my pm was needed.

Insured with LV. Told them I had a PM fitted but they said not interested provided the DVLA had issued me with the "ok to drive" letter and I followed the rules within it.

I had pm fitted just over 2 weeks ago, called insurance company who sent me new insurance documents outlining my medical condition & there was no change to the cost.
Also DVLA must be informed, they will send you a form which asks about details of your medical condition & your GP's / Consulants details. You have to return that within 28 days.

It isn't a case of don't ask don't tell, if you get involved in an accident you will be in deep sh*t especially if someone gets hurt. It isn't worth the risk.

Before my PM was fitted my Cardiologist told me not to drive, so I was off the road for 2 months, catching lifts to work & hopping on the bus. Not exactly convenient, but better than killing someone.

Good question maybe ?

Hi Janet I've always assumed that because the DVLA says we can legally drive with a PM ., we don't need tell the car insurance companies . I never have ... whoops , maybe I should have done !

Certainly some travel insurance companies do increase the premium in the first year after implant.

Shhhhh ... don't mention my name to anybody !!
