Any tweens have complete HB and PM?

My son has complete HB and a PM. I want to know if there are other tweens that he can relate to on this board. We are facing our next surgery soon. We have had three PMs and need to choose one that will be great for a golfing teen and young man. Any help? Good models, bad, ugly?!!!

Hi there! I'm 23 and have had my pm since I was 7, so I went through all of those years. AND I got my pm for the SAME diagnosis! (complete HB). AND I have had 3 devices! (ok, this is slowly getting weird, haha). I have had St. Jude and some other company (I have had 2 St. Judes, the other one I can't remember) and at least my cardiologists like them a little better. Ask anything!

Pacemaker model?

Hi!

May I ask if your son needs the pacemaker's rate response function? Usually, CHB patients don't need it, and in that case, the model really doesn't matter that much, because the functions CHB patients need are provided by all pacemaker models. If your son should, however, need the rate response switched on, then I'd go for a pacemaker with a dual-sensor rate response. Not many options here: Boston Scientific has a few models with two sensors, and Sorin has one, too. Medtronic or St. Jude on the other hand do not offer any pacemaker with dual-sensor rate response.

On a different note:
To be honest, I find the "we" in your wording a bit strange. Certainly, YOU are not going to have your third pacemaker surgery, but your son is. Yes, you are his Mom and you are by his side when he goes through this - but, if my parents had ever said "we" are getting this and that done, I would have been really mad at them (I was 18 at first implant). Being by someone's side who'll have a pacemaker implant and having a pacemaker implanted in your body are two differenty stories. Not offense intended, I know you only mean well.
