Need help also

Does anyone in the Fort Lauderdale / Davie area of Florida need support? I have had my ICD for 18 months now, and I have no one to talk to. Have gone to head doctors, but without knowing the feeling of a ICD and shocks, lightheadedness, panic attacks and vertigo, they are not much help. There are no support groups here to help, and no one to talk to.

feeling way better

Hello everyone,
I believed I've been off line for a while...due to a nasty cold!
First, I would like to thank you guys for your opinion/suggestions with regards to my question about the immune system getting week after the implant.
I went to see my dr and was prescribed with REST ONLY so I took sometime off again from work and just take things as easy as I can. I managed with a couple of paperbacks to read for more than a week or so (so peaceful!!!!!) As my manager put it, knowing...

Hi guys and girls,
Just wandering whether anyone else has developed a keloid scar over their pm.I have one even though I've never had a keloid scar in my life and I have had some surgery.Just wandering whether the skin on the chest is perhaps more susceptible to keloids than elsewhere on the body??? Your response will be appreciated. Thanks Chris

PVC's

Does anyone know if it is typical for PVC's to worsen after a pacemaker implant? I've read some of the posts about PVC's but didn't see anything about whether or not a pacemaker can make them worse. I am now six weeks post implant, the erratic heart beats have calmed some but I am still experiencing a lot of them, especially at night.
I have had a hard time getting in to see my doc or even talk to him to discuss this again but am finally being worked in tomorrow and hopefully he can get thi...

Stuck on 60 part two

I went to the ER this morning because I was weak in my legs and felt very bad and was overcome with anxiety. The doctor ran a few test to see what might be causeing my heart rate to stay around 60bpm, even after some walking and exercise. Well first of all I was dehydrated and electrolytes were low also, they put me on a bag and 45 minutes later, my HR had increased to 77, about what it runs during being up and around. Doctor said that electrolytes and being hydrated was huge in heart functio...

CHANGE IN DEFIBRILLATOR THERAPY LEADS TO BENEFITS

Interesting article for those of us with defibrillators:

Keyless entry, push button start

My husband had the listed Medtronic pacemaker. We bought a keyless entry, push button start Camry and a few weeks after starting to drive this he was found dead after getting out of the car and was lying at the front wheel. It was listed as a heart attack but I wonder if it was related to the Camry keyless entry system. Does anybody have any further information?

I don't want a new pacer....

I was born with a "1/2 heart". Two of my chambers were underdeveloped. I was born with no tricuspid valve. My left lung became part of my heart. I have had 4 major open hearts, and several little minor ones. In "O3" I went in to for a fix of a leaky valve. I still have my PIG and now have a Bovine valve. While they were in, they placed a Pace Maker in.

It has been almost 10 years. I am PM dependent. No health insurance, My husband just died last week. I am 33. I never wanted the pace...

All's Well (so far)

Hello Everyone,
Well, I had the procedure yesterday, and am now the proud owner of a Medtronic PACER (that's what they call it at my hospital).
Today, soreness is present, but not overwhelming; more itchy than anything else.
I must say that the hospital staff (Kingston Ontario) were absolutely top notch - cheery and professional. I knew it would be an interesting experience when the Scottish speaking cardiologist asked me what type of music I'd like to listen to during the proce...
