Just a quick check in. We made it thru the storm somewhat good. Didn't get all that rain which stayed to my east, but it did pass right over us. WE did loose power for a couple days, but I did have a genset to power up most things. Family wise, my kids did good too! Now one of my brother n laws had a couple families that lived in the area that flooded out. Was told that the water only took 1 hour to reach 10'. Not good for those people. One had just finished building there house. Other family me...

Left arm & Jaw pain on exertion

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this board. I joined sometime in June knowing I was having a PM put in July 10th. I have read a lot of helpful information on this site. I think I even made on comment on someone else that newly had a PM put in.

I actually have been healing quite nicely from the PM. The swelling took a month to go down. I still have some pain once in a while, but not anything that keeps me awake.

I want to know is there anyone else out there...

Qfiber infra red body wrap and similar

Hi there

Has anyone used one of the above please? As far as I can establish, there should be no problem but, as always, I've come across conflicting information! Need gentle heat on an injured knee (plus advancing years' wear and tear elsewhere!).

Many thanks in advance

Heartblock, low heart rate at night

PACEMAKER

Hi to everyone here....this is my first post......getting anxious as I am about to have a pacemaker implanted next week, but feel great and always have!

I am nearly 52 and 22 years ago halfway through pregnancy I felt faint (that day was the one and only time though!) and I had irregular heartbeat. But they never gave me any treatment and tests after my baby was born showed I had 2nd degree heartblock type 1 (London professor wasn't concerned as I was asymptomatic...

Firefighting

Hey everyone. I just have a question or request for more information. I'm beginning a firefighting program at the local community college. My cardiologist isn't sure I will be able to make it as a firefighter because of my pacemaker. I was born with complete heart block, AV block, and am 100% pacemaker dependent. I am on my 4th pacemaker and got my first at age 6. I am 24 now.
I wanted to find someone who had a pacemaker before being hired as a firefighter and learn their experiences....

Have I posted this already ?????

A wonderful quote in the Daily Telegraph ,a national newspaper in the UK, today. Sir Rory Collins of Oxford University is suggesting that everyone over the age of 50 should take statins. He accused medical regulators of over-stating the possible side-effects of statins. :-

"Sir Rory disputes claims that statins can cause sleep disturbances, memory loss, sexual dysfunction, depression, lung disease, cataracts, diabetes, memory loss and confusion."

I wonder if HIS memory...

fluttering and chest discomfort

I have had my pacemaker now since Sept. 2011. Have had no problems at all and was feeling great and active again with the afib gone. Then in the last month this light fluttering came up (mostly in bed) and a discomfort in the chest. Last night the fluttering kept waking me up. I don't feel it during the day due to, I believe, being active most of the time. My next Dr. appt is not until the spring of 2013 so I found this site and have been enlightened that it does exist. I believe now a call to...

Home heart interrogation

Hi All

I'v had my Medtronics pace maker now for 4 weeks. As many of you know most sports heart rate monitors won't work if you have a PM. I would like to be able to see what my heart is doing every day. I have just submitted a request to Medtronics via there web site to provide a home heart interrogation kit. I also called on the phone and talked to there customer support person and requested the same thing.
It doesn't seem to me to be that difficult to develop a simple com...
