Rate Response Turned On???

HI all,
I have a question. My EP wants to turn my Rate Response on. I told him I would have to think about it.
The reason he wanted to turn it on is that my HR increases to 170-180 while walking on the treadmill for 4 minutes.
We already knew I had tach before the PM. He wasa hoping it would get better when my HR wasn't fluctuating so much. But it didn't.
From my understanding...the Rate Response will increase my HR with movement...is that correct?
Cause I don't need tha...

No thyroid with pacemaker with tsh really high?

Hi

Allan (42) from Edinburgh here

I have a pacemaker fitted approx 12 months ago for sinus bradicardia and also paroxsomal bouts of afib

Been on thyroxine for approx 5 years as I has my thyroid gland burnt out via radio active iodine.

I am on thyroxine every day which prior to my implantation for pacemaker was a fine art as too much would make my heart palpitate and too little would make me exhausted.
Anyway since my pacemaker was fitted last...

swollen forearm

hi all, I had to go to the hospital today because my nurse called my cardiologist and told him I've had some "zinging" sensations and my arm is somewhat discolored and swollen and hurts in a few places if you press on it. I don't have a bloodclot, but I need to find out what this is. Has anyone else ever had this?
Thank you.

Junctional Rhythm

I had to have a lead revision done over the last couple of days and seem to have developed a Junctional Rhythm.

I’m wondering if any of you folks have had experience with a Junctional Rhythm
and if so how did your doctors handle it.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Newbie from NV

Got my PM two days ago. The low end is set at 62 but my HR is staying above 70 - sometimes into the 80s. What is going on? Should I be concerned?

Diaphragm Paralysis

I have four questions for some of you.

1 - Do any of you have paralyzes of the diaphragm?

2 - If you do, or did, have you had surgery to correct the problem?

3 - What were the results of the surgery. Namely, how long was recovery time and how much pain did you have and for how long?

4 - Do you know what caused your problem?

To pace or not?

Hi,

I'm 31 and have complete block since birth, yet suffer no apparent symptoms. I have to confess I never really took much interest in my condition when I was younger - when I was a kid it was always explained to me as "your heart beats slower than most peoples, but it beats stronger to make up for it". I felt fine so never thought much about it. I have checkups once a year and Doctors have always told me that 1 day I might need pacemaker.

A few checkups ago one of the do...

New

I am so very excited to have found this page! I had a pacemaker implant in June of 2004 at the age of 19, im 22 now. I had fainting spells my whole life and doctors always said it was stress related or puberty related, they told me to take salt tablets and drink gatorade. I finally went to a cardiologist that said that she would do a tilt table test just for a "peice of mind" well with 2 minutes left on the table i passed out and my heart stopped for 40 seconds. As soon as i woke up they sai...

"all the righrt questions"

Hi All, Have an interrogation on tues.with a new medtronic rep.
Any thoughts on the right questions to ask, and how many kinds of settings can be checked or changed. H/R seems to peak at 120 and that is not as much as I would like. P/M used to be 135+ and it was supposed to be moved up to 150h/b during my last meeting with a different rep. The report does not give any info on the settings as I see it. I currently have a duel lead Medtronoc p/m for sss.
thanks -Philman

Newbie

Hi everyone. I just joined after reading many postings for a few months. I received my ICD in June and I'm still trying to adjust. Truth is, I can't stop thinking about it. I'm so tired all of the time and seem to be in a fog. The doc says it'll take a year or so to get used to it; I try not to dwell on it, but it's been such a life changing experience!! No one seems to understand how scary all of this has been. I was found to have a heart working only 50% (EF 27%) only after flunking an...

New Machine!

Hi All,
Haven't been on for a while but I read comments every day.
My quesiton is I just received my ICD interrogation machine.
I was wondering from members who have one what it's like. Do you feel it, mine has a speaker they can talk to me on, and any comments you may have. Just weird to have this device next to your bed reading your heart! Guess I better be a good girl!

SVT

I've had my pacemaker for a year now. I recently went for a pacer check, and they asked me if I had been feeling alright,I told them I had been feeling some palpitations once in a while but I didn't think it was anything to worry about. Of course I now know it is. I have a pretty good amount of medical knowledge but tis thing just baffles me. Turns out that a pacemaker won"t do anything for SVT's (seems I was having quite a few svt's(supraventricular tachycardia)). They then put me on beta - bl...

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
