Hi
Allan (42) from Edinburgh here
I have a pacemaker fitted approx 12 months ago for sinus bradicardia and also paroxsomal bouts of afib
Been on thyroxine for approx 5 years as I has my thyroid gland burnt out via radio active iodine.
I am on thyroxine every day which prior to my implantation for pacemaker was a fine art as too much would make my heart palpitate and too little would make me exhausted.
Anyway since my pacemaker was fitted last...

i just need to no something,my grandad recently passed away and he had a pacemaker fitted my family are still a little worried that the pacemaker will still be working, do they remove the pacemaker when someone dies or do they leave it??? am confused i just want my family to no a bit more
New
I am so very excited to have found this page! I had a pacemaker implant in June of 2004 at the age of 19, im 22 now. I had fainting spells my whole life and doctors always said it was stress related or puberty related, they told me to take salt tablets and drink gatorade. I finally went to a cardiologist that said that she would do a tilt table test just for a "peice of mind" well with 2 minutes left on the table i passed out and my heart stopped for 40 seconds. As soon as i woke up they sai...
new Pacemaker
Im 29 and since sept. 26 have been fighting NOT to get a pacemaker implanted. I have a loop recorder in (put in Oct.1st) i had a negative tilt table test, a sound EP study, and i just recieved my results that i dont have sleep apnea. So all my tests are good, but for whatever reason my heart pauses for up to 4-5 secs while im sleewping, several times a night. My heart rate drops to the 30's. So thats why my Doc wants to put in a pace maker. I just keep fighting him on the issue because i thought...

Time to Vent....
Hello Everyone,
I just need to vent. I am doing a lot better than when I posted for the first time last year. I was suffering from depression, anxiety, shortness of breath, and just downright hopelessness.
I thank God that I read a report from Dr. Whitaker's Health and Healing Newsletter about the many benefits of taking fish oil. I take 6-8 caps of the NOW Brand Salmon Oil daily and after a few weeks my depression totally left.
I did a colon cleanse from Dr. Sch...

Hi all
Well I officially dont have a job now, the place I work fired me tuesday for absentisim, exhausted all my fmla, and they used the missing five days and no job. Nice family orentated business, have high risk bypass, pm/defib installed. Oh well Ill collect my disability and try and get better. Still haveing shortness of breath just walking, doc is adjusting my meds now. I guess now Ill enjoy just being alive, take my meds, do my walks, maybe go fishing once in awhile, might try golfing but Im stil...
Another newbie!
After a whirl wind month, I received a dual chamber rate responsive pacemaker last week. It seemed to happen so fast and now I'm not sure what to expect for recovery.
The last few years have been crazy...at age 45 I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Aug. 06, went through bilateral mastectomy and 6 months of chemo.
Now, this pacemaker. I have learned alot about cancer but don't know about pacemakers. I feel better but still have episodes of lightheadedness and fatigue...
Still Struggling
I've had the pacemaker now for a couple of months and I'm sorry to say I still haven't made peace with it. It still hurts and I scarred awfully. Its possible that I had a reaction to the disolvable stitches. Either way it looks awful and I'm not pleased. And if one more of my family members says "yeah you hate it but its keeping you alive and from passing out" I'm going to puke. I know it's good for me, I know it keeps me from passing out. But it's still something foreign in my body and it still...

Has anyone had abaltion and how succesfull was it?
Thanks
Thanks for the positive feedback for someone who tends to take life and everything else too seriously. I never had any forewarning and went form 60 BPM to 10 BPM within 24 hours for no apparent reason at a young age so maybe I am still a little - whatever. Sometimes I just need a little reminder of what's good about this thing.
Yours Truely

Worried - Now
I really don't know what tothink when someone tells me that the thing that keeps me alive is in going to kill me? I am 100% dependant and without ventricular pacing would not be around to complain, however now I have to worry about my family losing me ealier than maybe they would have because of this thing. Sorry, but I don't always handle this well and don't need bad news that I cannot change. Please be more sensitive to what you say, be it fact or not. Thanks for making my day!!!
having a frustrating out of breath day
Hey ya'll,
I sure can't breathe today. It's very frustrating. Every time I complain to my cardiologist there's nothing he can really do, so I just quit complaining and deal with it. Doesn't make it any easier though. I'm wondering if I need to go back down on my beta-blocker. It's been a few weeks since my increase, and I wonder if it's now starting to get the best of me. I just really feel like crap. I think I'm gonna call him anyways. I have a history of phrenic nerve damage back in April...
Scarey
I am finding it difficult to cope with my hubby at the moment who has a difib/pacemaker. Since his beta blockers were upped his personality seems to have changed. I do everything I can to help him and will never stop loving him but I am finding it very difficult at the moment. Has anybody else experienced this?
To vent or not to vent.....
I am 49 now, my biotronic ICD was put in last September after a horrible gall bladder surgery (in June).
I knew things wouldn't be "by the book" when the cleaning lady threw it away while I was in the ICU.
I am part of a study "Cosmos" I believe. Is there anyone out there who is also part of this study?
I know I should take my questions and fears to the Doctor with me, but when I get there I feel so.... intimidated or ??? Anyway it would be nice to talk to someone about some thin...

Ok, I know that the general public doesn't think about young people having pacemakers, but I just picked up a college preparation "magazine" in the library the other day and on every other page, there was an add for some sort of US military service. I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH: I know that hardly anyone thinks that kids can have pms, but it is demeaning to the general public when the say "Do something with your life" or "Accelerate your life". Excuse me??? I can do great things just staying on ci...

Hello all. I have a question. I am soon going back to work and the secretary there is a real pip! She is one of those who thinks she knows everything and then gets real mad when someone corrects her. She actually doesn't talk to people who do that to her for days! Her grandma has a PM and I just know that she is going to be a real ***ch to me and say a lot of nasty things and try to compare us. Short of throwing one of my imaginary hand granades at her, I am at a loss for dealing with her...

I was wondering about the tightness of the whole pacemaker area. Does this go away? My whole upper body is really stiff and feels almost stitched together.
Not on time!!!

Hello my friends!!! God bless you all. Here i am again asking if any one has had these problems. I have not been feeling the best...seems like something is "off". Like my pulse is delayed and it comes in late...not on time at all! I cant really explain it. I mean, it is like if your heart is supposed to beat and it doesnt for a second and you wait for that moment but it takes forever and you feel like you can die. Like, oh my God is my heart going to beat? And then it does. But the rest of the b...
