Time to Vent....

Hello Everyone,

I just need to vent. I am doing a lot better than when I posted for the first time last year. I was suffering from depression, anxiety, shortness of breath, and just downright hopelessness.

I thank God that I read a report from Dr. Whitaker's Health and Healing Newsletter about the many benefits of taking fish oil. I take 6-8 caps of the NOW Brand Salmon Oil daily and after a few weeks my depression totally left.

I did a colon cleanse from Dr. Schulze's site and that has helped my anxiety. Before, I would have a very hard time between the 0.5 mg Clonozepam 2X a day with my nerves. But, now I can go pretty good until my evening dose.

I tood 'ElectricFrank's' advice and had the rate response turned off. After I did that, my shortness began getting much better and the hard beats left. Thank you very much, Frank!

Now, the only time that I get short of breath is when I eat something really sugary(which I shouldn't anyway).

I have started working out at a local gym by strength training and I have been walking about 1/2 mile each day in between and the two days on the weekend. I've been doing this about 1 week and I feel lighter when I stand up. So, something must be going in the right direction.

Also, at my last PM interrogation which was October 2008, I am using my PM less on top and bottom than when I had it put in(June 12, 2007). My readings were 81% ventrical and 13% atrial....compared to 100% ventrical and 25% ventrical last year.

I've went from complete heart block to intermittent heart block.

Even with all of these good things happening I wish with everything that I am that I could get my PM removed and go back to just dealing with my Chronic Fatigue(9 years). But, for the life of me I just can't see how my body could heal cellular damage(blockage) especially since the cardiologists have told me that none of them know what is causing my heart block.

I get angry sometimes. Sometimes I feel despair. And I guess, sometimes I just feel sorry for myself. I know that we are not supposed to be envious of other people when something good happens to them. But, I truly envy the people that are finally able to have their PMs removed and their hearts are doing what God intended.

It's very late here and I just wanted to vent. No need to respond. Just wanted to get my feelings out instead of holding them in.

Ya'll are beautiful people and have helped me out a lot in the short time I have been a member. Thank you.

Best,
Sandra

Sandra,
I guess that I would fit into the group of people who have made a remarkable recovery. I am now healthier than before my Heart attack (two and a half years now).
The depression and anxiety is sadly, very common with Cardiac problems. Every month the medical profession get better at prescribing the best medication.
I can remember times when I was very down and losing hope of ever leading a "normal" life.
I have come into contact with many Cardiac patients in the last two years, and I promise you, there are better days ahead.

About your PM. I discussed removing mine with the Cardiologist who has looked after me. His opinion is that in the near future, people will opt to have Pacemakers or Defibrillators fitted before having a serious heart problem. (Finances permitting).

I now think of mine as an insurance against sudden death. It will give you another chance to recover.
Please keep going, but take it as easy as you can.
John

Thanks for input

I appreciate your feedback on how you are doing. I don't see it as venting! From my perspective it helps me in knowing what suggestions are helpful and when.

Have you thought about vitamin B12 for the fatigue. This is one of those controversial things. According to most doctors none of us need it because our liver stores a years supply. However, as we enter our 40's at some point our ability to absorb B12 through our stomach and intestines starts to decrease. Since B12 is needed by nerves a deficiency can cause all sorts of seemingly unrelated symptoms.

I decided to to try taking it myself a couple of months ago when a neurosurgeon I saw for back problems said I had neuropathy. I started with patches I ordered on the internet and after a few weeks I not only started to clear up the numbness in my legs, but my mental energy improved. I then ordered injectable B12 and increased the dose. The results have been remarkable.

There are 3 important things about B12. One is that to be effective it needs a route into the body other than orally. Either shots or patches handle this. The second is that in any reasonable dose it isn't toxic so there is no problem in trying it other than cost. The third is that if you don't have a B12 deficiency, then nothing much happens and after about 2-3 weeks give it up.

I am no expert, but I believe that without the defibrillator that I have, I would be dead.
