icd implant-severe pain

20 days ago I had an ICD implant. No problems until 2 days after the surgery when I suffered severe pain just below my left breast. Went to ER. Nothing wrong. Continued to suffer. Went to ER again. Drs found nothing wrong. I don’t know where to turn. Dr. who did the implant has not contacted me. His assistant can find nothing wrong with wound site or ICD.

Post airport experience


I am wondering if anyone is experiencing problems after air travel and airport. Recently, usually a day after air travel, I start experiencing irregular heart beats together with difficulty breathing and chest pressure that cause coughing. It usually lasts several hours and mainly at night. I am noticing that is becoming worse. Doctors don't see anything because usually everything is ok in the office. If I don't travel, this is not happening. I often travel for work and now see a pattern....

Still in the hospital!!

Hey guys I have been in the er since Saturday night! No beds up in the heart unit so I'm still in the er .. Saw doctor today he said I have pacemaker syndrome and have to go back to the or and move the leads to a different place hope it doesn't hurt! I have to be awake to let him know where it hurts .. The pain is still so bad

post implantation (new) symptoms

I'm an active person and generally feel well & exercise nearly everyday. Recently I ignored transient episodes of dizziness on exertion until my heart rate dropped to the 30s (BP was OK). Ended up with an implanted pacemaker for 2nd degree Mobitz 2 conduction block. Is Stabbing Pain Normal?

its hurt

My husband had a pacemaker replaced last Oct. 2011. he always said that the pacemaker is not look alright then the edge of the skin outside start to get red and we went to cardiology the doctor always gave him a antibiotic but it didnt get alright until the puss start to come out and it get infected.. i dont know what can i do,, i want to know somebody that can help us to fix this because my husband dont have any insurance and dont have a job.. i need...

Back pressure

I know a lot about hydraulics. The circulatory system is basically a closed hydraulic system with arteries being the pressure side and veins being the return side. Backpressure on the return side is a serious concern with hydraulic systems. It reduces efficiency of the whole system and causes various other problems that they write whole books on.

Still kickin'

I made it through my lead repositioning with flying colors. There was very little bleeding into the pericardial sac, and they repositioned it in a good place. I say that because I don't have extreme pain or a beating diaphragm. LOL

Scar Eruption again

Tonight and last night. I've just been dealing with it but it seems to be getting more frequent...at least 4 - 5 times a month. It gets EXTREMELY itchy with a very tight feeling to it and blistery but no fluid in it. Been to quite a few doctors and no one knows what it is, nor are they concerned because they don't believe there is an infection. It goes away after a few hours but I can't sleep right now, it is soooo itchy. Not a big deal, I know....just venting.

pain

the last few days i have had horrible back pain. And every joint has been sore. EF is 15%, and i was admitted again yesterday cause I gained 12 lbs of fluid. They have no idea what is causing the pain. Any ideas or suggestions????

Handwriting has suffered

It's been a little over two weeks since I had my complete heart block and subsequent pm implant. During my episode, my bpm was around 20 for about an hour and a half. The only mental issues I now have is my handwriting.

Does anyone else have skills that may have been effected by their heart issues? I have to print almost everything I write because of my now horrible cursive.

Maybe I should get one of those handwriting primers from elementary school to relearn cursive! <...

Hole in heart update

Well, tomkorrow is the day when the doctor (a different one than the one that pierced my heart) pulls the lead and repositions it. Hopefully, the hole will clot quickly and they won't have to split me open like gutting a fish. LOL.The doctor is fairly confident that will be the case.

Nerve pain in left arm after new PM

Since my PM insertion almost a week ago, I have had pain in my left arm and shoulder that feels as if a nerve is being "pinched" in my left shoulder. Sometimes, the pain is very bad and percocet only dulls it. The one symptom that is always present is numbness in the index and middle finger of my left hand. Low blood pressure

I had my pm installed the first of June all went well had it checked twice and it is set to go no lower then 60 and is set to pace up to 100 fairly fast when I get active which seems to work okay but my problem is my blood pressure which is very unstable goes from 150 /85 to 100/55 which makes me very light headed and tired feeling The dr. Nerve pain following insertion

I just had an ALTRUA 60 EL pacemaker installed in the front of my left shoulder about three days ago. There is practically no pain at all where the incision was made, but I feel as if I have a "pinched nerve" right in my shoulder. I have some numbness in my left hand that is there all the time. I been to 3 diff e.r rooms total of 5 times. having bad chestpain. i also feel tired n really think somthing is wronh. Clot in Right Atrium

All: Had an echo cardiogram last Mon. They found a "Small clot" in RA; suspect it is on my PM lead. Due to location, not clearly resolved in images from EC.

Unknown origin; perhaps came about when my INR dropped to 1.4 for three days. Long story about that. Have an occasional A-Fib.

Have TEE this AM (Scheduled last night at quitting time at hosp - they could not get hold of me all day yesterday to sched it)
