Low blood pressure

I had my pm installed the first of June all went well had it checked twice and it is set to go no lower then 60 and is set to pace up to 100 fairly fast when I get active which seems to work okay but my problem is my blood pressure which is very unstable goes from 150 /85 to 100/55 which makes me very light headed and tired feeling The dr. Took me off norvac and started me on Lorazapam which seems to hame my low pressure worse I am 72 and still doing woodwork but it is getting harder because as my pressure drops I get very short on breath does anyone have any ideas. Thank you. Harold

is my guess....ask your doctor about this.

perhaps you should be wearing compression stalkings so that when you stand up, all your blood won't stay pooled in your lower extremities.

I totally agree with Alma Annie - Lorazepam has some unpleasant side effects for some people. I've read (and discussed it with my doctor) and it should only be used short-term as it can become addictive.

I think if I were you, I'd seek a 2nd opinion as what you describe seems fixable:) Sometimes its as simple as our bodies need a lot of time to heal after surgery.

Lorazepam

I have just googled above and it appears that it could cause some breathing problems as a side effect. It is given for anxiety, and I am wondering if you are really anxious. As for low blood pressure, mine is usually about 90/50 and yes sometimes I feel a bit light headed when I get up from a sitting position, but this has nothing to do with pm as I had this before. Obviously blood pressure goes much higher when active or exercising, otherwise you would not have enough oxygen in your blood to allow you to exercise.
I wonder if you really need the drug and perhaps you could query this with your doctor or get a 2nd opinion.
Let us know how you go. All the best

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
