Told I need a Pacemaker this week
Hi,
I am a 27 year old female who was told this week I need a pacemaker after suffering dizzy spells since I was 13. Had always gone to dr to investigate when they got bad, however it was always put down to hormones and since the age of 21 my occasional bouts of anxiety. However recently saw a Neurologist who thought I had epilepsy, but tests showed my heart stopping for 8 seconds during one of my spells, and now here I am with what cardiologist suspects is sinus arrest or av block. I...

Insomnia
I have my Medtronic ICD about 2 1/2 weeks. This weekend I started having insomnia only sleeping for a couple of hours. Also, I have a pain that comes and goes in my right shoulder and top of my arm. Has anyone else experienced these effects. Thanks,
Lorraine

Your not gonna believe this, I don't. My hair has been falling out rapidly. So I go to the Doctor and he says, "its due to the lack of oxygen caused by my heart condition". Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

I'm not a fan of medical bracelets, or just bracelets in general so I've been thinking about a heart tattoo on my inner wrist with the pacemaker symbol inside. Has anyone ever did this? I was told by my doctor it would be a good idea to wear a bracelet since I'm so young but since I've had the device I never end up wearing it like I should. So I figured a tattoo would be the next best thing, but i'm a little nervous since it will be there forever....let me know what you think:-)

Well i have my little blessing!!! A litle boy named Landon Oliver he was three weeks eatly. 6lbs 10oz 20.5in long. So everything was great.....i loved being pregnant!!! One problem. I started feeling like i couldnt catch my breath. Which i just put off to being pregnant. It just kept getting worse and worse. I ended up making it till 36weeks and 5days. What is wrong with me????
Am loosing my mind? That is the question of the day. My sort term memory is gone! I can't remember if I mailed something, lost it, or completed it? This is making me feel just like before the pacemaker. I feel panicked and dreadfully full of that awful feeling of doom. I think I want to cry because I still know I should "know" things. I haven't felt this way in a long time. I am due for a new pacer soon but I was fine 2 days ago, but now I don't know!
If I call the doc he will think I am b...

Life Insurance
My life insurance policy that I had pre-PM, will expire in two years. I tried to renew my policy early, but it was denied for medical reasons. Since then, I have applied to other insurance companies, and I have been denied by them as well. Does anyone know of insurance companies that will insure middle age individuals with a PM because of afib?

Hi all... I have posted a few times on here and have been so happy to have the support, but we are really struggling with wrapping our arms around this. My husband, 42, just got a PM last week after a Maze procedure for afib after failed meds and ablations. It had gotten totally out of hand over the last couple of years and his heart was going nuts every single day.
We knew there was a chance of the PM, but didn't really consider that it could happen. But, after the third degree blo...

Great article for new pacer recipients
Great article:.............
If you've recently had a pacemaker implant, it's probably likely that you're feeling somewhat less complete as a person than you were before. I would also bet that you're wondering just how much that little machine is going to change your life.
Will it cut into the activities you used to enjoy so effortlessly?
Will it always be a part of your conscious thoughts?
Will you always be wondering if, at some point, unannounc...

I know that other women with pacemakers struggle with the bra strap issue, so I am hoping someone out there has a creative solution.
I have had a pacemaker for 20 years and have always had some irritation with bra straps. I thought I had a pretty good solution--I wear strapless bras, then wear a tank top/cami that has the built in bra support thing---the straps are softer, rounder and narrower and cause less irritation, plus I got more support that just a strapless bra.
