Recent poll

Just curious who set up the most recent poll about the home monitor. I didn't participate because it didn't have my answer or anything close to my situation.

For future polls I think it should have included a response of every three months or less.

Pacemaker replacement cost

I have an Adapta pm implanted in 2010 and coming up on my first replacement soon. Medtronic told me the battery is encased so it won't be a battery change, but a pm replacement, keeping the same leads. My big concern here is my current cardiologist, who is wonderful, doesn't take my insurance. I tried to switch, but they don't take any of the three insurance providers available where I live. I'm trying to get the medical codes and cost, but does anyone know how much yours cost...

Repositioning complete!

My CRT-D was repositioned last Wednesday.  I was admitted by noon the day before for pre-op testing.  My nerves were through the roof....a normal reaction for me.  I was admitted into the CCU, and surgery was changed from 830 am to 11 am and then, 6 am Wednesday morning, they came to get me for 8 am surgery!  I was so nervous I didn't get much sleep and was ready when they came to get me, and staff seemed unaware of the schedule change.  The surgery turned out to...

Sleeplessness

I had my pacemaker procedure three years ago and it was a new life given to me then, I can do so much without running out of breath and am really happy about it.

Recently I found it very difficult to sleep at night, my quality of sleep has gone down dramatically and begins to worry.

Has anyone had similar experienced before and what have you done to solve it, please?

Chest infection and pacemaker refit tomorrow

I had a pacemaker fitted end of September. Unfortunately it didn't connect properly and one of the wires is not working.

I am due to have this corrected tomorrow. However on Friday I saw my G.P because I have come down with a chest infection. The doctor thought it was adult croup.I am now on steroids and antibiotics The G.P didn't advise to cancel tomorrow's cardiac appointment, but since Iam not much better, should I still be having the pacemaker surgery?

Sleep / Afib

Hello everybody. Hopefullly I can get a little help or at least learn that I'm not the only one going through these things:

1) I have had my bi-v since 2016, and lately I can't go to sleep at a good time because I lay in the bed listening to my heart beat. On top pf that, I am only sleeping 4-5 hours a night. How do I get past anxiously listening to my heart beat every night? So far I have tried going to sleep with headphones listening to music, but to no avail.

2) La...

Can high HDL (Good Cholesterol) actually be dangerous?

I made a startling discovery in the previous month, and so I thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone can benefit and/or just has an interest. I had two relatively minor strokes last month and was hospitalized for several days. Please understand that I am not suggesting you can draw any definitive conclusions from the info I am providing here. There is a need for much more research. So please draw you own conclusions.

I went to the ER twice over a two week period last month,...

I have started a casual job to help out with cost of living.

Part of this roll is to enter a steel container that holds a generator and start it up  then at the end of the day step back in while it's running to turn it off.

Both procedures only takes a few minutes whats your thoughts on this?

I have tried Google but I can't get a clear answer

Thanks to any one who answer's

Intermittent high pulse after cardioversion

I have a PM primarily for SSS. Lately, I've developed Afib. It was pretty debilitating so after meds did nothing, I had a cardioversion a couple of weeks ago. That fixed it (I know that Afib often comes back). My PM is set for a resting rate of 55, and if Afibbing atriums attempt to drive the ventricles too fast, the PM does a mode switch at 130 bpm to disconnect the upper and lower halves of the heart; I can tell when this has happened because the resting rate in DDI mode...

Heart rate issues

My mom had a pacemaker put in  at the end of August this year. Almost immediately she started experiencing a nagging cough.  Doctors tried to convince us she had covid, heart burn, asthma, psychosomatic issues - we've been down every road possible and finally they are talking about repositioning the leads to see if that is the issue.  But the other issue she has been experiencing is her heart rate jumping up for no reason.  He pacemaker is set to kick in only if her pu...

All good, but...

Well, I survived the grapefruit juice scare! It did point out that, no matter how "normal" I may feel, there are some things to look out for. For instance, I was seeing a lot about how effective CBD can be for arthritis pain. Thank goodness I had contact with a reputable vender who said he would not sell it to me until I'd checked with my doctor--blood thinners are the problem there. A natural supplement to address depression has appeal for me, but St John's Wort is a n...

Can anyone confirm if taking a glass blowing class is a safe activity for those with pacemakers.

I have never taken this class before and want to be sure.

Thanks.

Nerve Conduction Test on feet

I had a nerve conduction test done on my feet today. The podiatrist is aware of my pacemaker. I asked the technician who did the testing about complications with the pacemaker, and she said it didn't pose any risks because the tests were being done to the lower extremities, away from the pacemaker.  Has anyone had this done?  Are there any risks?  Thanks in advance.

Cardioverson

Hello to all!

my second Cardioversion is scheduled in January 2023..

The first one was in June 2020, and I was able to stay in rhythm for 25 months.  A-fib returned in July 2022, in connection with a positive Covid home test. I was half way through a one month holiday at that time. I have not had any obvious Covid symptoms; but have had 3 negative home tests since then.

So, the big question now is how to avoid going out of rhythm again. As a...

PT and Tens

I have been going to PT twice a week for the past month for low back pain.  They use a tens unit for the first 15 minutes of my visit.  Feels great.  I told them at first visit that I have a pacemaker and am 100% paced.  They said it was fine but just today I started reading past posts from this site and find varying opinions on the subject.  Can anyone shed more light on this matter?  So far I have not noticed any signs of change in p/m performance.  J...
