Pacemaker

I am a new member. Had my pacemaker put in on Dec 1, 2022. It seems to be 

protruding, will it go down in the weeks ahead. Has any one had this problem. Thanks.

How it looks and feels is not the way it will be in time. You have swelling in there. My scar is barely visible and is a thin short white line. The swelling will go flat. Unless you're very thin, the pacemaker will most likely not be noticeable. Mine isn't. It depends on how deep your pocket is. Some are placed under the muscle.

I had my device replaced in October, and the new one was slightly protruding. I wondered if this one was bigger than the old device, but now, 7 weeks later, the swelling has gone down and there is no 'bump'.

It can take 6-12 months to fully heal and settle so don't judge either the bump or the scar until then. If by chance it's not in a good spot after more time, they can reposition it deeper.

I have a dual-chamber pacemaker and for the first several weeks it really stood out.  However, 18 months later my body accepted it and created a nice pocket around the pacer.  It still stands out without a shirt on but with with a shirt you cannot tell I have a pacer with a slight bump now.  I have learned to accept the bump the new me.

Hi,

Yes it will settle down after a while.  Mine still stands proud, but is not noticeable to other people unless I pull my arm back.  It is however very high and means I cannot sleep on that side as it is in the fold of the shoulder.
