Has anyone heard of a CCM ? Cardiac Contractility Modulation therapy device.

Well my cardio doc has recommended that I get a CCM implanted alongside my ICD. I've had my ICD implanted in Oct '21 because of my genetic condition - LMNA Cardiomyopathy. Since then my EF has improved thru medications, etc. I am on 3 different pills a day and he feels that there is room for increased improvement thru the implantation of this newly developed device. From what I know there are only ~7,000 implants worldwide and the therapy that the device delivers can and has reversed...

AV Node ablation for afib and subsequent exercise tolerance

Hi everyone, what a great forum this is. I have learnt so much through readings old posts in the last 24 hours, I feel I have already gained heaps from it!

However, I thought I'd make my own post just so there's an opportunity for some of my more specific questions to be answered if possible.

I am in afib and have been for almost a year. I have already had a LA ablation (2015) which reduced my afib episodes in frequency and duration until this episode. My left atrium is to...

Lifting

On my discharge paper it mentions no lifting, pushing heavy things.  Wondering if this means from now on out?  I use an upright walker and need to lift in and out of car.

Airport security

I  just went through security at terminal 2 and terminal 3 Sydney airport. All staff (6) are untrained in understanding that people with pacemakers can not go through scanner. I am standing there, shoes off,  waiting to be told where to go for a frisk, and staff are telling me to walk through the scanner! I'm standing there, shaking my head saying "no". Then finally, a female came to frisk, and luckily when I asked her to change her gloves before touching me, she was o...

Diet with a Pacemaker

Hi - I wanted to see if anyone has been on a high protein diet program after getting a pacemaker. I've not been able to lose weight at all and am thinking of going on a diet called OPTAVIA, which is predominantly high protein. Any help is greatly appreciated! I love this group - it has given me a lot of peace of mind, especially since I can't relate to my family or friends about certain things (even though they are very supportive).

New to the Club

Great site.  I had a Medtronic PM W1DR01 installed on 4/21 due to low heart beat and Atrial Flutter. Prior to the PM I had ended up in the Hospital for 3 days after I noticed my heartbeat was in the 40's.  My bpm one night got down to 35, got the nurse running around on that one. Heart tests showed the heart was strong and healthy, just my sinus node was diseased.  I had a Cardioversion the 3rd day in the hospital to stop the flutter.

Prior to the PM,...

up date to my removal of eye floaters and blurry vision

I understand that many feel this topic does not belong on this site.  Since the blurry vision is subjective does this happen from a fast heart beat.  Or because of the blurry vision does it cause the heart to beat faster to pump more blood into the eye.

None of my doctors will commit to these either.

Did have the 4 week checkup after the removal of the floaters.  healing so well will not to see the retina doctor  for 6 months.  He did say if have vision&nb...

Scar treatment

Since I have had 3 pacemaker operations since January 2020-

Changing EP

I have had my PM for several weeks now and I’m thinking of changing to a different EP.

Once my primary started the process I felt caught up in the current and was just along for the ride, but now that it’s done, I’d like to explore other options.

The EP that did the surgery is part of a particular hospital that seems to be old and antiquated, not to mention that it’s some distance from my house.

The Doc. himself is good but I’m a little tro...

Echo Question/thoughts

I would like to get a little feedback on my situation. I have had my PM for 35+ years and seeing the same cardiologist/EP since 1998. I think that I had an echo sometime back around 2006-08, but not exactly sure. The result was at least 50+ back then, but I don't have my records in front of me. My point is that it was in the normal range. My cardiologist just never sent me for another one and it never occurred to me that I should ask him. So I didn't get another until last year (2021)...

My son

My son has a Medtronic pacemaker 2 leads.  His cardiologist wants to do an echo to see the efraction ratio. He said that if it's under 50 they will need to put in a third lead. I don't understand why the efraction ratio would go down and is this life threatening? Does anyone have any advice!
