After my PM implantation, I was told to keep my left arm down for 6 weeks, but not to not use it or it would result in a frozen shoulder. I was concerned for when I slept as I sometimes sleep with my arm behind my head. I came up with a solution. I had a wrist band that I put on my left wrist, then took a bathrobe belt and put it through the wristband, then around my waist. I tied the belt very loose, but it kept me from being able to lift my left arm, but I could move it enou...

If you are bothered by your seat belt strap or back pack strap, I found fleece velcro seat belt covers at Walmart in the automotive section. They are for people that don't like the seat belt rubbing on their neck, but they are great to position over where the pacemaker is. I also use them on the one strap of my backpack.

I had my pacemaker put in Oct/2020. They had me at 70bpm and I kept getting more short of breath and my exercise tolerance was low. Yesterday he lowered me to 50 while I sleep, 60 during the day and 140. Since then I feel a little light headed-not bad, I can function. Energy level is wonderful! Is the lightheadedness just something that my heart is getting used to the new numbers? The adjustment took away the shortness of breath immediately!

Will my Medtronic ICD (model DDMB1D4) detect a heart attack and will it show in the records of an interrogation? We're refering to a heart attack caused by blockage of an artery.

Hi everyone, I'm Charlie and I want to share my story with you in hope i can find some people in a similar situation..I'm 33 years old and I'm living with a heart condidtion my doctors cant seem to put a name on. It started 5 years ago, when as chance would have it I went into V-fib arrest, just as a friend of mine, who fortunetly knew cpr, had just arrived at my home. 5 years ago the doctors dismissed it as a fluke, probably brought on by a nicotine overdose..side note, my wife w...

I am a 63 year old active male who was told recently that I need a pacemaker due to low & long pause heartbeat caused by 2 broken branch blocks. I currently lift weights and use both arms to lift things over my head repeatedly to do odd jobs around my property. My concern is that once I have the pacemaker I will no longer be able to physically do the things I enjoyed prior to the pacemaker surgery due to the chance of dislodging the leads. Talked this over with my Doc who said t...

So Monday I went in for EP study with a plan to have an ablation for atrial tachycardia which was discovered during excercise and persistent palpitations.
My EP was unable to induce any arrythmia with isoprenaline and burst pacing. He did however discover that as my sinus rate increased the long PVARP on my pacemaker meant that I was dropping beats.
He has now shortened the PVARP and turned on adaptive AV delay. My upper limit was increased to 165 with 1:1 conduction. I am h...

Hi everyone
I am due to get an DD-ICD (had 3rd degree heart block in August) due to cardiac sarcoidosis and am now better on meds but docs still think I need one as a "back-up"...
I am having the appointment with the doc to discuss the device and clear any questions and was wondering if you have any suggestions or tips as to what to look out for? Any recommendations on specifically durable leads, devices in general, settings. I am female, 50 yrs old, active (love long hi...

Hi everyone!
About 5 times now (over the past 6 months or so), I've had a weird sensation while sitting in my recliner. Each time, I'm usually just sitting (very relaxed) in the evening and I feel a quick sharp pain in the area of my heart. I've never had a shock from my ICD, but it almost feels like a very, very short shock. When I get up from this particular recliner, and touch something metal, I often get a small static electricity shock. I wonder if this has something to...

Hey everybody. This is my first time posting, but I've found a wealth of info from this forum as a viewer, but thought I'd jump in to the discussion. Maybe this has been covered previously, but does anyone have issues with the Privacy Statements that PM companies use? I literally don't have a choice to allow them to collect and sell my data.
A little background. Turned 40, got the surprise of a lifetime getting a PM installed for an AV II...

Hi. I'm asking questions for my 66 year old brother who needs to get a pacemaker and is getting conflicting information from his doctors.
He wants a Boston Scientific pacemaker because he is an avid cyclist and wants to continue doing so. Yesterday he was told by his EP that he needs the HIS Bundle leads that only Medtronic has, along with a Medtronic pacemaker. This doctor has been pushing Medtronic's for several years to my brother.
I guess he needs the...
