27 Y.O. with 2nd Degree AV Block Type 1

Hi, all.

In early 2020 I was diagnosed with a 2nd degree AV block Type 1 after wearing a 48 hour holtor monitor that recorded two drops close to each other one of the two nights it was recorded.

However, I think during the time it was recording my husband and I were having an argument (around 11 p.m. when the beats were dropped). I was wondering if the stress caused by an argument could have caused this to happen and it was a one time situation and not enough to truly...

Pacemaker placement

I'm wondering if a pacemaker can ever be placed to far to the side? Every time I raise my arm straight out and up or reach across my chest such as when trying to put my hearing aids in or when I try to do anything like applying mascara or other eye makeup. It feels as if the pacemaker gets caught up or bound with my shoulder and it seems extremely close to my arm pit. It's also still painful with pain that I can't pinpoint after a month and it reminds me of the same pain I had afte...

Vaccine

Hello,

Happy Holidays!

Wondering if anyone has spoken to their cardiologist yet about the vaccine.  I realize everyone's case is different, but wondering if there is a general consensus.

I got a new toy

Hello everyone,

You may have read my recent post in which I said that the Energizer Bunny had died. On December 21, after 10 years, I got a new pacemaker. Two days later, I received a box from Medtronic. It contained one of those SmartLink remote monitoring devices. I had a few things on my mind, and I just put it under the Christmas tree.

Naturally, I opened the box on the 25th and set the whole thing up.

I AM IMPRESSED. Things have certainly evolved...

Crt

73 years old with a dual chamber st Jude pace maker, installed almost 5 years ago. Pacing continued to increase to reach 100% on the ventricles. Have now been pacing at 100% for 2 years. An echocardiogram shows decreasing EF, less then 50%  some shortness of breath but still can do everything. Cardiologist suggest CRT , biventricular pace maker upgrade. Has anyone had this done? Cardiologist said only issue may be having enough room in the vein to add another wire due to scar tissue...

Scar

Someone tell me when I can begin using scar patches to minimize the scar. I'm out about 3 weeks and the wound has healed but it is ugly. I am tiny and would love to make this look a little better. The food news is so far it's working.

Subwoofers

Hi there,

I just bought a new sound system for my house and I noticed that if the subwoofer is on it feels like my pacemaker is oversensing. As soon as I shut it off I level back out but it's a very uncomfortable feeling and so I am wondering if this is a normal thing or if I should avoid it? It also happens in my car with songs that have a lot of bass- even with the volume lower.
Not sure if it matters, but I've got the Micra AV implanted so there are no leads....

Spider Veins Over Scar and Leads Moving

I had a CRT-D implanted mid November. In the last few weeks I noticed spider veins appearing over my scar.  Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to get rid of them? They're very unattractive and I typically wear tank tops during the summer months.

The last couple days I've been having aching pains on the left side of my chest as well as some tenderness. This morning I felt the bottom edge of my implant and it feels different like one of the leads has moved and is now...

BP and HR monitors

So I'm trying to get off of BP meds and monitor my HR. Problem is that I can't find anything that will accurately check my HR because it either detects paced beats or doesn't detect paced beats. I cannot manually feel my pulse. No one in my house can. Even with a stehtascope. My BP monitors don't always detect beats so they error out saying low HR. I'm in an endless loop on both. I really don't want to start taking medicine if my HR isn't as high as I thi...

What would you do? dating and heart devices

Hi,

I hope everyone is doing well. Backstory: I am dating a person, that I am slowly starting to really like, he's spontaneous, fun and shares my love of bike riding - also, he works in medicine. As we get to know each other, intimacy seems like the right next step. Question: should I tell him about my device/heart condition? or let him ask about it - as he will see my scars. I am not embarrassed about my scars, I don't see them as a big deal, but I don...

basic question about rate-response pacing

I have AV heart block and I'm getting an ICD Tuesday (ICD because of likely sarcoidosis diagnosis).

I'm confused about when the rate-response features of a pacemaker come into play. My understanding from my EP is that I have normal sinus node function, meaning that the pacemaker function of my ICD will just be following along with the rate set by my sinus node, which will vary according to exertion level, emotion, etc., as usual.

I understand if you have a sinus...

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
