I had my pacemaker operation July 15th after episodes of fainting and a diagnosis of 3rd degree heart block and right bundle branch. For the past several months I haven't been pacing at all, or very little (less than 1%). The main problem that I'm experiencing now is difficulty exercising consistently. Sometimes I can run on my treadmill at a 12 min per mile pace without any problem, but other times, it's really difficult to get my heart rate up and I have to go slower. Also, there have been...

Hello everyone it's been about a year since Last visited this site . I have st Jude pm since August 2011. Been doing a lot of jogging and biking. Anyway, I am thinking of doing a half marathon on February. Needed to get some advice from anyone who has experience with long distance runs. Do I need to watch anything? My normal ranges on heart rate while jogging is 125-148. My PM setting is 55 low - 160 high. Any and all advice is appreciated. Tomorrow morning I am doing 9-10 miles.

I am pacemaker dependent and have been all my life. After having my second child I want to get more fit to be around for them both (I was emergency cardioverted my last pregnancy). What are some good ways to tone up and get fit without causing myself to blackout from pushing my pacemaker limit?

Hi All,
This is my first post. Recieved St. Jude CD in April 2013 followed by ablation procedure a few weeks later. I recently bought a pulse oximeter that records and I have been using during exercise. I have noticed that during a normal paced walk my HR would oscillate between 80 to 90 BPM. It just bumped over 90 a few times. Is this normal? I am 64 and in good condition except for severe COPD. Thoughts appreciated.

I just got a pm on an emergency situation. Wed. Dec. 18th, we can I exercise for the first time in a long time I actually feel like it. Before I was glum and lethargic without knowing why. Is there anything I should particularly be concerned about? Anything?? Are the beta blockers that necessary?

Hi all,
I've now had my pacemaker for 6 months and everything seems to be going well.
I'm due to go skiing in Feb and one of the main things I'm worried about are the magnetic gates that you go through where you scan your pass to get onto the lifts. The magnet is usually about chest height & pre pacemaker I used to put my pass in a breast pocket on my coat and it would register as I went through. Are these safe to go through with a pacemaker? (I'm obviously not going to pu...

Hi all
I am due for an ablation and pacemaker implantation shortly in January. I have been in aikido for 23 years, and generally in sport (not elite!). My evaluations took place over the last couple of years, some symptoms arising early 2012 where on exertion I would tire and need to rest. I seem to be ok with weight training and low exertion cardiovascular activities, but when the pace steps up beyond a certain level, I may not cope and have to rest.
My cardiologist warns...

I'm 59 years old . I have been diagnosed with RBBB and have had a pacemaker for 11 months. It was implanted because of 2:1 heart rate drops during exercise. I changed to a new Cardiologist 3 weeks ago because the first one never did adjust my PM to stop the 2:1 drops. The new Cardiologist reprogrammed my PM and I think that the drops have stopped; but, now during exercise, nearly every time around 145-155 bpm, I experience a jolt-like (or a skipping-like) sensation in my heart, and next, my...

I had a pacemaker implanted about 20 months ago. Before the pacemaker, I was swimming laps a couple times a week. I gave up the lap swimming but was wondering if I could safely resume this relaxing activity?

Have read that if to much of a particular exercise such as swimming maybe can or could cause fracture of leads, does anyon...

I am wondering if any of you have had any luck using a Suunto Ambit watch with the heart rate monitor or the Garmin Fenix watch with the heart rate monitor.
I have a pace maker and have good luck with POLAR brand but not the other two.
Let me know if you have had any luck and maybe I will try one again, they may have changed something.
Thanks, Bob

Hello, I'm new to this. I am due to have a pacemaker hopefully in the New Year for SSS.
I have not been allowed to exercise since July. Normally I go to the gym, do pilates, yoga, aqua aerobics, walking, ballet barre and had started to learn swimming again after several years break. I am very keen to return to doing all these. I have a very stressful job working long hours and I find going to the classes/gym helps.
How soon can I exercise? Do I have to wait until after the 6 weeks post...

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
