Heart rate watch

I am wondering if any of you have had any luck using a Suunto Ambit watch with the heart rate monitor or the Garmin Fenix watch with the heart rate monitor.
I have a pace maker and have good luck with POLAR brand but not the other two.
Let me know if you have had any luck and maybe I will try one again, they may have changed something.
Thanks, Bob

They seem good

I have had two of them and they both work well. I would just like the Suunto or Garmin later as they are a little better for hiking and GPS work, but I also would like the Heart rate part also. Thank you for your input. Bob

I have a heart rate monitor which does not work well (kind of a no name one). At cardio re-hab we used Polar and the instructors recommended them as the best to purchase. I'm hoping to get one for Christmas.

I haven't tried either Suunto or Garmin HR monitors. I had a Polar FT7 before my PM implant which worked perfectly. Post PM implant I continue to use it daily without problems. I also have a pulse-oximeter which measures HR through my finger (in a different way from the Polar) and the readings are comparable.

Heart rate watch

I have a Garmin Forerunner 210 that worked perfectly before PM,,, after it has been very unreliable and problematic, I've had HR of 210 to 40 with PM settings of 160 and 60, sometimes I put it on to go out for a run and it doesn't recognize that its supposed to be in spite of trying all the helpful hints from the web site. The clamping mechanism to recharge is a pain to insure connection. I am also looking for my next HR monitor purchase and I wouldn't recommend this one but I'm hesitant to blow the money since I hear mixed reviews about most of them on this site. From what I read one of us will have good luck with one brand or model and someone else will have trouble with the same device. I would really like to have that feedback. Testing manually never has worked well for me as I can't get a accurate feel and pulse when I'm most interested is at higher exertion levels and by the time I find it HR is already dropping. Good luck, hope we get more comments !!!

I tried a no name....it worked but gave me shocks when I touched some metals like in the freezer doors in supermarkets. My Cardiac Rehab Nurse even tried it on and then touched the metal part of a treadmill and she got a shock.

I have a Polar FT3, pretty basic without all the bells and whistles. Never had a problem with it so I stick with what works.

so far your results have been mine

I would have to say that I have tried the Polar FT7 and the RC3. Both have worked well with my Pacemaker.
At one time I tried the Suunto Ambit and later the Suunto Ambit 2, neither would pick up my Heart Beat.
Some time later I tried the Garmin Fenix, again it would not pick up my Heart rate.
Some years ago I tried the Suunto Ambit and it worked but seemed a little slow and seemed to lose the Heart rate from time to time.
I am at a point where I would like to do Hiking and would like to monitor my Heart rate too. So far the Polar RC3 is the best I can do. It has a GPS but is not as good a GPS watch as the other two Brands.
Take care and happy work outs, Bob
