I recently received a pacemaker. I have a Polar FT7 heart rate monitor (with the chest strap). Does anyone have experience using such a monitor with a pacemaker?

Polar FT7 + PM

Hi TJ
I have a Polar FT7 HR monitor which I use both pre-PM implant and now post implant. The PM doesn't affect my FT7 nor does the FT7 affect the PM. All my readings are similar after PM implant to the pre-implant readings.
I have a pulse oximeter as well and have checked the FT7 readings against the pulse oximeter and they concur despite reading HR via different methods and in different places.
You shouldn't have any problem with your FT7 and PM.

Hi I use a polar HRM the same one FT7 and it works fine, I also have a Garmin edge 500 HRM and this does not work for me I get asked many times while riding why do I have a Polar Watch on my handle bars and a Garmin as well, so cheaper is sometimes better than the more expensive...

Punch in Heart Rate Monitors and there is a ton of info there.
I've never had a problem, except when I used to wear a Dog Tag.........skewed readings sometimes.
Best wishes

Try it and see. As the others said, the hrm will not affect your pm. My pm affected the Polar, I was not able to get a reading on it so I returned it. I have never found one that works for me. Either the pm interferes and I get no reading, or it picks up the pm spikes and reads too high.

My Polar FT7 works with my PM. But my Garmin Forerunner 305 and Garmin FR70 do not display a HR when the PM is pacing me. The Garmins either display blanks or show very erratic readings while the PM is pacing.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
Polar Heart Rate Monitor and Pacemaker
by ThorAsgard - 2013-12-25 12:12:11
Hi,
I have had my pacemaker for three years now.
For the last two years i have used a Polar RS100, RCX5 Run.
I currently use a RS800CX
None of them have caused any problems or any side effects on my Sorin Esprit pacemaker
Hope this helps
Dave
