Another newbie

Hi, another pacemaker newbie. I was implanted on 26 November having been diagnosed with SSS (pulse rate in low 40s).

I had no symptoms pre-implantation, but since the procedure I've been feeling light-headed occasionally, which clears after about 20-30 seconds, and wondered if this is where my pulse has dropped and the pacemaker is kicking in (set to 60 currently) - I'm also suffering today with heartburn and lightheadedness which doesn't seem to be clearing very well.

I'm...

Recovery time

Hi. I am a 75 year old woman. My crt-d was implanted November 17. I am wondering how much time it takes to start to feel normal. I was feeling pretty good the first week or so after my surgery. Then I started feeling not so good again. It is mostly getting tired and not being able to do all I want to do. Am I expecting too much too fast? How long did it take some of you to feel good?

2 days post op

Hi Guys. I'm Ashley. 23 and currently on post op day 2. I was fitted for the mri safe Medtronic pacemaker on Wednesday for inappropriate Sinus tach and bradycardia. I had an ablation last month for SVT. And in order to control the tachycardia with a beta blocker. I had the pacemaker implanted. So far so good. I feel like I'm hunched over and My shoulder feels like it's just stiff and same as my neck. I've only been wearing my sling at night trying to avoid the whole "frozen shoulder" thing. Any...

Preventing Bad Scarring

My incision from the implant has completely healed and the steri strips have fell off. I have been putting essential oils on the incision to prevent bad scarring. I have used this on other incisions and it has worked great. I was concerned about the pacemaker being just beneath if the oils that are absorbed by the skin could damage the pacemaker. Does anyone know?

pacemaker under the muscle

hi
August 2015 I got the pacemaker (bradycardia, sinus arrest, pause, nodal rhythm) due to damage to the sinus node because I had five ablation. After the operation was complicated and I got pnevmatorax. I got a pacemaker under the skin. After one month, my wound is infected. They found the bacteria Streptococus aureus. Treatment was carried out in the hospital with antibiotics into a vein for 4 weeks and remove the infected pacemaker. Then the new pacemaker inserted on the other side. Agai...

Surgery tomorrow

I am going in tomorrow to have my battery changed for the third time. My initial placement was in 1998 when I was only 46. I really notice the difference this time, no energy, very tired, legs feel very heavy and stairs or hills are almost impossible, out of breat easily. I am hoping all of these symptoms go away after I get my new battery in. I do not have a cadiologists. Would anyone on the forum suggest that I see one on a regular basis. My mother suffered from angina and my father...

AV Node ablation & replacement CRT-D coming up!

Hi Pacemaker Peeps!

I was diagnosed with Viral Cardiomyopathy in 2001. Long story short I ended up with an EF of 15-20% in 2010, had a CRT-D implanted then a Ventricular Ablation (took care of the PVCs I was having - sometimes 2 or 3 in a row, which isn't particularly healthy). Since all that my EF has increased to around 40-45. A year ago I had another ablation due to SVTs, but this wasn't successful and recently due to stress (I'm a Foster Father to a 14 yr old girl :D ) I've had tw...

On Going Pain From Pacemaker

Hello:

I am on second dual chamber pacemaker. I am paced 95 percent of the time. The first pacemaker was implanted in August,2009. It was implanted under the skin between the muscle. It all went pretty smooth and healed well. I really did not have any complications and pain was minimal as it healed. And also no pain except for a little discomfront with the seatbelt, pretty typical.
In January, 2015 I had my second dual chamber pacemaker implanted. For some reason, it was la...

AV Node ablation

Hi. I have had a pacemaker since 2011 as I have atrial fibrillation.
5 weeks ago I had AV node ablated. I am still having occasional fast pulse and ectopics and feel really uncomfortable when I go into A.fib. I realise av node ablation doesn't stop A.fib but I was expecting to feel more comfortable as I was told I would have a new lease of life. My appointment is on 10th Dec to see cardiologist. How long does it take for the heart to settle? I had three unsuccessful ablations And know...

Felt great for 2 days, but it didn't last

I had a bi-ventricular pacemaker implanted eight days ago. Four days after the procedure I was feeling great, probably the best in two years. It only lasted a couple of days, and am now feeling weak and tired, as before. Does this mean something has gone wrong or am I just being too impatient?

History:-

I am 71, live in UK, and I had a heart attack 3.5 years ago. I was diagnosed with moderate heart failure a couple of months ago, and eventually got to see a cardiologist te...

Pacemaker Removal

It's Sailfish again, went to see cardiologist today, asked him about exercise. He stated "just don't overdue it", however he would give me a script for a few visits for the hospital fitness center. Then my wife voiced her concerns about the coiling of the leads. Thankfully he brought up the films and said "I have never seen that before". He is going to make a referral to a specialist for possible removal since my atrial is 2% paced and Vent. <1%. He mentioned long term complication of blood clot...

what's considered normal

I truly am a newbie to the pacemaker club, 48 hours post op.; diagnosis: a fib. Although it's wonderful not to feel my heart pounding in my chest again I do need to inquire as to what I'm feeling is "norma"l... Rear shoulder pain on the left side, rubbery legs when I stand up and shakiness, I feel like I'm going to faint. Those last two symptoms remind me of what it feels like during the flu. I have a little bit of discomfort midchest when I take a deep breath. There was a scare from the surgeo...

Anyone have wires crossed during implant?

Anyone have the wires crossed during an implant and need to be cut open again to fix?

I'm all sown up the first time, the Medtronics techs go to test and say OOPS THE WIRES ARE CROSSED. Since I'm awake, I ask my doctor, you mean to tell me you need to cut me open again and fix this, he says yes. He does the fix, then disappears and I don't see him again. No one shows in my hospital room after surgery and the next morning no cardiologist. His P.A. showed after I made a stink and...
