I had a pm put in on May 14. Six weeks coming up. Do you start playing again softly or is it ok to whack away.

I would like to get a recording-type Hr monitor for my workouts. Most of them use a chest band pickup. I have read that they are incompatible with the PM since they will likely pick up a double signal. I have heard about ones that have the pickup clipped to your earlobe. Any recommendations out there?

Not being overweight, what kind of exercise is best now? My doctor suggested only 2 days a week on treadmill, and am not sure why. What do others do? Thanks

Hi! My PM was implanted very recently- tried using my fitbit today, but it won't capture steps when it's placed on my waistband. Has anyone else encountered issues with the fitbit counting steps and pacemakers?
Thx so much!

Recently had ICD placed. Want to get back to playing handball (4 wall). Concerned about accidental bumping and possibly dislodging the device. Is there a flack jacket or other protection available?

It has been two and a half weeks since my pacemaker was installed. My next appointment is at six weeks. I feel fine and am doing light gardening work. I just put a sports bra on and that is the most comfortable I have felt yet. Here's hoping it works.
I am wondering how much activity others have undertaken at this point in their recovery. It is hard to just sit around but I do worry that I am overdoing it. I walk a lot and am doing anything that does not require putting my arm ab...

I am on week 7 and have the Medtronic Advisa MRI safe PM. I am a runner and have been back to running since week 2. The default settings did not have rate response turned on and when my HR got to about 130, my heart became arrhythmic and the PM took me to 60. That is not a good feeling. Anyway, the cardio turned on rate response and things were much better, but I had trouble getting my HR above 125. When I went back for my week 6 checkup, he readjusted the RR parameters with the medtronic t...

Tat man you asked on my previous posting whether I do the Park runs and I have responded by saying I've never heard of them, had looked them up to see what they were and said that there didn't appear to be such runs in my neck of the woods.. Welllll... I went to the local running club to do a track session on Monday(a week after you mentioned the Park runs to me) and a runner from another club was at the leisure centre asking was I there for the Park run meeting that evening. It transpired tha...

I've been riding a riding bike on a regular basis for the last 10 years. 40K rides 5 days a week. Four years ago my heart slowed down to the point where I passed out so a PM was installed. I was back to riding within a few months with no problems. Lately I've noticed that when I'm walking, which I do on rainy days, I get dizzy mostly at the beginning of the walk. This never happens when I ride. I also get dizzy when I stand up and usually bend over a bit until it passes. I have a St. Jude PM.

I was told not to do any lifting above about 5 k or 10 lbs also not to lift my left arm above shoulder level. Does anyone know how long this should be kept to or do I have a good excuse? :-)

I have a pm 2 years now and continue resistance training and running. Yesterday ran a hilly 5 K in 42:32 and placed 103 of 203. I was the second oldest guy. Two years ago did it in 37 minutes but, since them my Metoprolol was increased and that slows the heart rate.
The bad news is that, as I have continued exercising, I have developed more symptoms. First AFib and now ventricular tachycardia. My electrophysiologist says that, since I am symptom-free during exercise, he considers me...

Hey there!
Since I have the feeling that there have been more questions on the CLS sensor (rate response) lately, I wanted to share my experiences of the first couple of months with this sensor with you. At this point, I should say that I do not have the rate response switched on as a backup, I need it for every move I make as I'm 100% paced in the atria and ventricles. My sinus node has been modified by catheter ablation several times, and I have had an AV-node ablation to induce a c...

Good day everyone. This is my first post, joining just moments ago. I hope you are all doing well.
I had a Biotronic Evia SR- T put in on Feb 3. My symptoms were a resting hr of 40 and unable to get above 110 while exercising. An EKG showed a bad 'P-wave', so I had the 1-lead pm put in the same day.
My problem involves an erratic response to exercise (jogging); I.e. sometimes my hr stops climbing at 110-120; same course another day, hr goes to 180. Hr sometimes decreases when I exert m...

the cardiologist treating my afib forbid chocolate completely. I occasionally still have some in slight amounts like dipped ice cream cones, but I know if I went full bore into a bag of peanut clusters I would end up with a least panic attacks and or another afib attack. Unlike most people who can barely feel their heartbeat, I could feel every afib beat almost like a pound in the chest, especially adversely affecting my sleep. I've had two afib attacks, one was converted back drug IV and the o...

One year after my pm implant, I'm still experiencing shortness of breath and sometimes pain in the middle of my chest with exercise - just walking for exercise or climbing stairs.
I've had my pm checked many times - more than is usual and they keep telling me it is fine. I have to go 400 miles round trip to see the dr., so I can't see anyone whenever this occurs, so I mostly just don't exercise. I have recently had other tests to be sure there are no other problems.
Any wisdom ou...

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
