Heart Rate Monitor

I would like to get a recording-type Hr monitor for my workouts. Most of them use a chest band pickup. I have read that they are incompatible with the PM since they will likely pick up a double signal. I have heard about ones that have the pickup clipped to your earlobe. Any recommendations out there?

Heart rate monitor

Hi Chris!

I have always had a Polar heart rate monitor with a chest strap, and it has always worked well with my pacemakers (three different manufacturers so far). At the moment I'm using a Polar FT7. No problems at all, it's absolutely accurate.

PolarFT7 it is. Why mess with success

They all will work

There shouldn't be any "double pick up" with these, I've never heard of that.

My garmin 405 with a chest strap works fine plus you get all kinds of neat data if you are into that.

Decided

I decided to use all my LLBean points and ordered the Garmin Forerunner 310XT. Garmin says it will work, eased the $299 Price pain, and if perchance there is an issue, LLBean has the best return policy ever.

try before you buy

I have never been able to get one to work. After I bought two and returned them, I asked to try them in the store. I tried two chain store and one high end running store with a knowledgeable manager who even got online and researched it for me while I was playing with them. No luck! I've heard of the double reading but my problem is no reading. I've tried the chest strap and the watches. I just go by how I feel. It's not too sophisticated, but it works! If I feel good, I assume my pm is working properly. If I can talk but not sing, I assume I'm working hard enough and my hr is ok, whatever it is. I use an app on my phone (runkeeper) to track distance, speed, etc.

Polar works, but my Garmin doesn't

My Polar FT7 works fine with my Boston Scientific Advantio. But, my Garmin Forerunner 305 frequently displays blanks. The Garmin worked fine before I got a Pacemaker.

Polar no longer works

My Polar FT7 worked fine before I got my Boston Scientific Ingenio PM. Now it seems it jumps up to very high--some kind of double reading. I assume it has to do with pacemaker. I just recieved a mio alpha which reads heart rate from your wrist. No chest strap> i'll let you know how it works.

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.
