Polar vs Mio

I got a pacemaker for the first time in March to treat heart block. My polar F7 Monitor began giving me all kinds of crazy readings. I was also having a variety of complications causing my heart to behave erratically. I recently purchased a Mio Alpha and although it is not perfect, it is done a good enough job for me to pinpoint my current problem and to go to an electrophysiologist who was able to figure out what the problem was and make adjustments to my pacemaker.
The good thing about th...

ICD & Running

Hi, in my 5th week of running after the normal 7 week ICD implant healing phase. I am also on beta blockers (sotalol 80mg 2x per day). Former competitive runner, cyclist etc. Had a sustained vtach episode. Cause still unknown. Anyways, so back to running, but I am much slower than before..probably due to the layoff and probably the beta blockers. My settings are set really high on my ICD. I wear a HRM too, just to monitor my heart rate. Who else has an ICD and has been running since the...

When i need fast heart rate pacemaker stops workin

Hi, I am new to the forum and I was looking to get some info.

When I exercise my heart rate starts to build up but then it reaches a certain point (when I need oxygen most) and my heart returns to a natural rythym which is about 35 bpm and then i get obviously short of breath.... and then when I am a bit recovered the rate comes back in high with abnormal beats.

Has anyone else had this?

Advice needed!

Hi,

My name is Sarah, and I am 18 years old. I came across this site today as I was doing research for my "options". I was told yesterday that my doctor would not be choosing the route of medication to fix my arrhythmia problems ( I fluctuate between a 27bpm & a 280bpm along with having PVCs). I was told a pacemaker is in my near future & to be honest that scared the hell out of me. I am very active, I do a cross between a cross fit style & olympic lifting, I'm in the middle of train...

Rate Response Problem?

Hi,

I had rate response turned on yesterday because I couldn't get my heart rate up during exercise (jogging). Now today, 30 seconds after starting to jog, my heart rate jumped to 158. I walked and it eventually went down and when I started to jog again, same thing happens, my heart begins to race within 30 seconds. When this happens, it feels very uncomfortable, like when the tech runs my heart up during a checkup. My heart even begins to race 30 seconds after jogging in place! I am...

Personal training

Hello

I have a different question. I am doing some personal training. This trainer calls it "ninja" training. In his training sessions we do lots of different excercises. So far i have been fine with pretty much everything he asks me to do. I have seen pictures and videos of other people he trained. And he usually gets them to do headstands, climb walls ect at the end of each 5 week session. I have been fine with doing planks and pushups and even the dreaded burpees. I am just not sur...

fast heart rate

My pm is set from 50 to 130. I do not have a rate response, it is something else which I don't really understand.
I have gone back after 3 weeks to exercising, by climbing 188 steep steps as fast as I can. I felt almost as if I was in A Fib as my heart started pounding. At the top of steps I took my pulse for 15 seconds and it was 44, which means it was about 170+ for a minute. It slowly decreased on resting. My question is how can it go that fast when pm is set to a max of 130? Any s...

Looking at data max is set at 150 HR My rate hits that each time i start running w/in 1-2 min of staring to run, pace does not matter. Also notice when i walk rate drops same curve to about 125 than the curve changes at about the same rate for each walk break. i t...

Back to Crossfit

7 weeks and 1 day post-implant, and I just completed my first workout class back!

I've been working my own steady rehab programme since getting the all-clear last week, focusing on making sure I've got full range of movement and stability. Still a way to go with weights and getting strength back.

Running, Kettlebell swings and burpees wasn't too taxing on the movement side - and I'd been working those in my rehab over the past week anyway - so I thought give it a go!

thinking aloud

I’m set to have a pacemaker put in on the 29th of this month. I’m a recreational swimmer and have been swimming daily for many years. I was wondering the following: if I used ONLY my legs, with hands on my stomach, could I reduce the recommended waiting period of 6 – 8 weeks or is there something I'm missing?

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
