Iâm set to have a pacemaker put in on the 29th of this month. Iâm a recreational swimmer and have been swimming daily for many years. I was wondering the following: if I used ONLY my legs, with hands on my stomach, could I reduce the recommended waiting period of 6 â 8 weeks or is there something I'm missing?

My EP told me to avoid pools and such after my surgery. On my follow up visit, at week 4 he told me to give it a couple of weeks before I went into a pool. He explained that he wanted to make sure the incision had totally sealed before I went swimming. Water getting in could cause an infection.
