Hi, I am new to the forum and I was looking to get some info.
When I exercise my heart rate starts to build up but then it reaches a certain point (when I need oxygen most) and my heart returns to a natural rythym which is about 35 bpm and then i get obviously short of breath.... and then when I am a bit recovered the rate comes back in high with abnormal beats.
Has anyone else had this?
Regards

Hi thanks for replying, my rate is low as I had Aortic root and valve replacement and during the op my electrical wiring of the heart got damaged. I also have left branch bundle block and prolonged pr interval 267ms
my consultant said that it is something I will have to live with and suggested that instead of my normal sports i may want to take up golf lol
not sure whether i refer myself back to the doctor as i am no longer going to be seeing my consultant as i have been moved a nurse led valve clinic for future appointments.

It sounds as though you need your PM settings adjusting.
If your Maximum tracking rate is set too low then the pacer may start skipping beats when you exceed the limit. This could be the explanation for your symptoms
As an example if the upper tracking limit is set to 120bpm and you exceed it with an atrial rate of 130 then the pacer will skip a beat and follow it with the next beat . The PM is essentially only allowing your lower chamber to fire on every other upper chamber beat so your actual HR would be 130 /2 = 65 bpm
So if your body wants 130 bpm and the PM only allows your heart to beat at half that level you would feel pretty grim with shortness of breath . Hope this makes sense.
There may be other explanations but if I were you i would see your PM guru a.s.a.p so that you can exercise normally again
You have an unusually low natural heart rate of 35 bpm; what is your maximum setting ?
