third lead

I saw my EP yesterday and we discussed my EF trending down, down, down.  It looks like I'm going to need a new pacemaker sometime in the fairly near future with a third lead in order to make my heart happier.  I'm at 49% right now, but it has been dropping all year from 75% high at implant.  I'm quite active and weight train and am only 63.  He mentioned that there is some thought that younger people should just get a 3-lead at the beginning as a fair percentag...

Back with another question

Does anyone notice if they lay on their right side their left shoulder rolls over toward the center on their chest and it puts pressure on their device causing discomfort ? Or at least that’s how it feels to me .

I imagine this device just below my collar bone is laying against my skin and pec muscle ? Something that wasn’t there before .

i might have become a back sleeper

However post the change, i started loosing weight and have lost my appetite altogether. Very recently the symptoms strated getting worser. And I have lost almost 5kg in one month. Doctors are unsure to why that might be.

Will very much appreciate anyones input on the matter.

Thanks

Pacemaker

It's been one week since my Pacemaker procedure. On 5 occasions I've had what I can only describe is a throbbing heart rate and sometime slightly elevated HR as well. After 30-60 seconds it subsides and goes back to a normal rate. After the first two episodes I went to the Dr for an interrogation and nothing was out of the ordinary. I had two tonight both within 1 hour of the other. Is this just the pacemaker doing its job? Above is the best way I can describe the feeling. Thoughts?

Running with a Pacemaker

I am a 63 year old man. 10 days ago I received a pacemaker. It went in me on a Friday. The next Monday (3 days later). I started to do a slow 2 mile treadmill jog. I jogged everyday last week for a weekly total of a very modest 14 miles. This week I am continuing the same 2 miles but slighltly faster. I do my best to keep bandages dry from sweat and when I shower (possibly getting the area wet was the only thing that seem to upset my cardiologist). In addition to the Pacemaker I was placed on...

Traveling without PM monitor...

I have had my PM for almost 8 months now and haven't had any complications whatsoever.  My checkups have been great.  I am soon going on a little get away visiting family.  It will be a 3 night stay.  I know that I could take my bedside monitor with me but 1) I would rather not deal with it, and 2) I doubt that it will pick up the satelites where I am going.  No wifi and very poor cell reception.

Do any of you see any big issues with me leaving my moniotring...

Well this is going to be a long story. My name is Thomas Watkins, I am a 23 year old male from Cambridge UK. About 6 weeks back I experience an episode of hyperventilation syndrome (A panic attack) at university and my house mates called an amublance.

Upon their arrival they calmed me down and hooked me up to an ECG and discovered a complete (third degree) heart block. I was taken to hospital and thats where I stayed for 8 days while they conducted several tests including multiple...

Pacemaker

In August this year I have my pacemaker implanted because I fainted and was unconscious.

I was admitted to a hospital, and on the same night, I have another episode of chest tightness

and cold sweat.  The doctor found out my heat beat was 30 mins per second, I was hook on

to a temporary pacemaker for observation, subsequence nights that followed my heart beat was

normal.  However, the doctor decided to implant the pacemaker.

Three months has...

New type of bionic pacemaker

This looks interesting so I thought I'd share it:

https://www.news-medical.net/news/20191114/New-type-of-bionic-pacemaker.aspx

A new study published in the Journal of Physiology on November 14, 2019, reports the development of a radically different type of cardiac pacemaker which could change the prognosis of patients with heart failure.

This bionic pacemaker follows the natural change in heart rhythm that occurs with breathing, and causes a steep improvement i...

New to PaceMaker

Hi Everyone,

It all happened over last weekend with me feeling dizzy in sucession, short of breath and fatigue. Went to hospital and EKG showed a second degree Type II  2:1 block. Treadmill stress test worsened the block and was advised to get a PM. It's about a week now with PM installed, still grappling with the situation as to what happened suddenly. I'm 54 male leading a very healthy life, exercising, no previous heart condition, no previous medication,...

Hi there,

Have come off the midodrine but am very weak in legs and unable to excercise!  My ep said he doesn't think I need to see him again and go to local hospital to have settings changed down to...

Recovery

Hi I am roughly 8 days away from getting an ICD. I'm choosing to have it done under the muscle. I have LBBB and am a 55-year-old female. Wondering what the recovery is going to be like. I am reading where people are three weeks out and still cannot lift their arm over their head. For the folks on here that I've had it under The muscle what is the recovery like?  I work from home so I will be taking the week of Thanksgiving off as I'm having surgery that Tuesday but I am...

PM or just me ?

Today I did some laundry. I had a basket of clean clothes that was pretty dull since I was a little behind from recovering (insert 10/22).  I estimate the basket weighed 30 pounds .

i carried it upstairs about 14 stairs or steps.

i noticed I was slightly winded when inreached the top of the stairs.

pre insertion that didn't happen- I'm a fit guy and while my heart rate would have naturally increased I wouldn't have felt i...

New member

Hi everyone,  I am Denise. I had my pacer implanted 8/1/19 due to Sick Sinus syndrome . Still trying to get used to it. I am 55 years old.. I found this site and have been reading everyone's experiences. It has been a blessing finding this site. It has helped me  a lot to just relax; and accept my new friend 'Hope '.

Still has some soreness at the site because it was placed in the muscle. Plan to take my first flight, in December, a little uneasy but I know I will...

ADVICE PLEASE

Dear Pacemaker friends,

I have just completed a brief description of why I got my pacemaker in my Bio in case this is of help in giving me an opinion.   I have summary copies of my last two pacemaker checks so hopefully I will be able to give you technical details if you need these.

My dual chamber Medtronic pacemaker is apparently working well.  It has mode switching turned on so that when I go into my atrial arrhythmias at a certain speed and for a certain duration it...

3 Months!

3 months ago today, I was rushed into hospital following syncope, and had a PM implanted for a Mobitz Type II block.  As a result of cuts in NHS funding, my local hospital is extremely busy and after an overnight stay I was discharged without a proper consultation with a cardiologist.  It was only by reading my discharge papers that I knew what was wrong.

Luckily, I am a Biomedical Scientist and have a good knowledge of medical terminology, and was, therefore, able to get a lo...
