Pacemaker

In August this year I have my pacemaker implanted because I fainted and was unconscious.

I was admitted to a hospital, and on the same night, I have another episode of chest tightness

and cold sweat.  The doctor found out my heat beat was 30 mins per second, I was hook on

to a temporary pacemaker for observation, subsequence nights that followed my heart beat was

normal.  However, the doctor decided to implant the pacemaker.

Three months has passed, occassionally  I still woke up in the night feeling chest tigtness with

cold sweat.  Is this normal?

Beside I continue to have this pinching sharp pain every now and then. The doctor claim is my

sensitive nerve, and should go away in 6 months to a 1 years.  Please comment, thank you.

Go back to your doctor urgently

You've described the chest pain (angina pectoris) of heart muscle not getting enough oxygenated blood quite well.

One manifestation of this can be impaired A=>V conduction.

But it sounds to me as though you need a workup from a cardiologist who specialises in plumbing - blocked arteries - more than an EP doc.

There may a lot of information that you haven't shared that would make my remote diagnosis look silly - but that's where I would start.

CHEST TIGHTNESS

Hello Chialeecheng,

I agree you should go back to your doctors for further investigations.  Ongoing chest pain/discomfort should never be ignored since it could have serious causes which may need immediate attention.

As an example, my husband was having symptoms not dissimilar to yours. He had experienced loss of consciousness on several occasions.  He was found to have some serious heart rhythm problems including ventricular tachycardia.  His cardiologist, a wonderful caring man, decided to do an urgent angiogram and found that his LAD (left anterior descending) artery was almost totally blocked and two stents were immediately placed.  The outcome could have been so very different if we had not sought early help.

I am not suggesting that you have the same problem, but I would certainly not delay getting another opinion for your continuing symptoms.  Good luck
