It's been one week since my Pacemaker procedure. On 5 occasions I've had what I can only describe is a throbbing heart rate and sometime slightly elevated HR as well. After 30-60 seconds it subsides and goes back to a normal rate. After the first two episodes I went to the Dr for an interrogation and nothing was out of the ordinary. I had two tonight both within 1 hour of the other. Is this just the pacemaker doing its job? Above is the best way I can describe the feeling. Thoughts?

Were the quick elevated rates at the same time? Could be the pacer's self check. They usually program it to happen while we are asleep.
How are you counting? Know that a lot of monitors aren't accurate with us so it could just be the monitor. Always count manually.
It can take some time for the heart to get used to being paced, for us to heal from surgery, for the doctors to fine tune our settings. Don't by shy about going back when things don't feel right. Just because the pacer is functioning properly doesn't mean it's doing what we need. It can be working perfectly but the settings aren't right for us.
Adjustment Period

Hi,
It could just be the adjustment period. When I first got my implant, I'd get up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, and when I laid down, my heart rate was up, too, like I just climbed up something steep. Then the "throbbing" would start. It didn't hurt, it was just super annoying, because it was quite strong. I can't remember how long these episodes went on for, but it was a little while. I think it was just my heart adjusting to a foreign object now taking over. I'd get about 20 really strong beats each time, and then everything would go back to normal. Happened all the time. It eventually stopped.

You have rhythm.

To tell you the truth I never even give it a second thought. While growing up it never stopped me from doing anything and to this day my girlfriend or my kids need to remind me that I have one!
Capture it

If you have a remote monitor, use it. When you feel this fast heartbeat, initiate a remote transmission. The PM tech can very quickly figure out what's going on and relay that information to your EP. My PM didn't capture them so they had no idea what was going on until I initiated a transmission when it was happening. That's what the boxes are for.
