Lactic acidosis

Helllo. Got my PM on 2/7 and back to strenous job w/restrictions on 2/17. Felt much like 'The Little Engine That Could,' after reading on here about an EMT and other active 50somethings returning to strenuous duties/ pleasures after short-term recouperations. My mantra became: "I think I can! I think I can!" Well, I found out I could, but not without consequences. : ( Off work for 2 days due to lactic acidosis. Seems I overworked my muscles after having been on minimal activity/ability...

When I run slow I suffer.. Fustrating

Frustrating!!!!!! 3rd degree heart block and bradycardia. So, as I mentioned in one of my last posts, the tracking of my pacemaker was increased to match the upper chamber up to 170 bpm ( I’m sure the rep mentioned 200bpm). Begins my frustrations. If I blast out of the traps for a 5k/3mile run, I can hold 7 min miles and even go below 7 min mile for one or two of them. I’ll be gasping for air at the end but not breathless or the sicky feeling and week legs.

When I’m going for a...

Missing normal

Hi, I had a dual chamber pm implanted on 02/23/2015. Had first heart attack on the 19th. Cath was clear, no blockages. Went into 3rd degree heart block. So now my electrical conduction seems to be working. I read my pm manual....seems they suggest you should not use a gas powered chainsaw. I used one quite a bit to keep my property maintained. So a bit depressed here ,yet still thankful to be alive. I'm just wondering what machines ,tools are okay ? Anyone else have to give up a tool they loved...

Frustrated

I had my Medtronic dual chamber pm implanted October 2,2014 for sic sinus syndrome. Been athletic/active all my life. Prior to pm I had run 7 marathons with a BQ in 2013. 6 months prior to pm started having SOB when running. Went through the gamut of diagnosis, starting with exercise induced asthma. Finally went to cardiologist and came up with the sic sinus diagnosis. After having the pm implant went back to running after the required 6 weeks off. Felt okay but some SOB but blamed it on being o...

easy weight loss and fun practical exercise

I just passed my pacemaker review 15 months after implant.

I am also T2 diabetic and I would like to share my success with that because it resulted in the loss of unwanted 22 KGs.

My new diabetes specialist wanted to get me off 130 units per day insulin injections and on to tablets and he did it with diet in one week. My diet is now No Major Carbs and extra veg. and has been for nearly a year.

I have bought an electric boosted pedal trike and been using it for t...

FitBit HR Charge

I received a new FitBit HR and was wondering if anyone has been using a fitbit and has it affected your heart rate, as in causing your pacer to race. Glad to have found this group. I'm on pacer #2 so I'm not new to having one....just new to the FitBit.
Appreciate any comments you might offer.
Thanks,

Recovering SA and pacemaker

Hello world of pacmakians. I had a Maze surgery in last June which unfortunately damaged my SA node. The surgeon who I have great respect for said that the SA node artery took a weird route which put it right in the path of one of the critical cut lines. Consequently I have since had a pacemaker to deal with Chronotopic incompetence. My SA node seems to function at resting levels but does not ramp up during exercise.

Okay now here's the puzzle. During the last month or so (8 months p...

Heart Rate Monitor

I just had my pacemaker adjusted and need to use a heart rate monitor for my cardio exercise. Any recommendations as what would be doable. I do not think a bluetooth unit would work but curious.

Thank you

PM Moved

I had my PM fitted in July 14 and followed the instructions to the letter, rested for 8 weeks and did not do any exercisecfor 12 weeks and no golf for 16 weeks. Over Christmas my PM moved up by as much as an inch and to the right by half an inch. I believe it moved because I started front crawl swimming, has anyone else suffered movement of their PM?

HR Question

There probably is no set answer just wondering what others are set at..

1st PM followed by pericarditis

Hi,
I have been reading some of the posts and found the various ages of patients, and your return to exercise very encouraging.

I'm 31 years old and received my first dual chamber PM Jan 8/15.
I have tachy-brady syndrome. The bradyarrhythmias ranged from sinus brady and pauses to second degree heart block. I am paced 78% of the time, and noticed an immediate change after surgery with my symptoms. Recovery was going really well. I was able to go for small hikes and ride on a...

Rides?

Hi there, I know that there are some rides at amusement parks that say - no pacemakers - but are there any rides I can go on? Has anyone in this club gone on rides with their pacemaker?

Might be....

doing my first Parkrun tomorrow. Going out tonight so depends on how I feel in the morning!

I have 3 aims...

1. to complete it without collapsing
2. to complete it without my calf playing up, and
3. to complete it in under 30 mins.

Think I'll be able to manage the first two - not sure about the third!

Heart Rate Monitor

I am a 43 year old runner ( not very fast ) who had a pacemaker implanted in June 2014. I have a 2 to 1 AV Heart block, which means I block when I reach a higher heart rate, mostly on hills. I have been advised to run with a heart rate monitor, so I went and spent a small fortune on the Garmin band and found it doesn't pick up my pacing so it is useless to me. Can anyone recommend an accurate heart rate monitor watch or band? I'd really like one that tracks distance too. Cheers :)

Pacemaker Low Battery by Joe Chirco 1/2/15
I am an athlete. I have a pacemaker to correct a birth defect of a blockage from my SA node to my A/V node. I have no cardiovascular disease. I was given a pacemaker to correct this problem over 8 years ago. During the last 2 months the pacemaker battery was at its end of life voltage.
I was monitoring the voltage at the Clinic on a monthly basis. We watched the voltage declining but it had not reached its ERI. I cycle as an athlete....

Issues when running.

Hi Guys,

I got a Medtronic Scansure MRI dual chmaber .pacemaker implanted last April 2014. I'm 38. I was told I have 3rd degree heart block.
I'm due back this Friday to meet the pacemaker technician. The issue I'm having happens during running. Once I go below 9 min miles I get out of breath very fast. the only way I can recover is to stop and wait maybe 2 or 3 min. Then I can run again.I have ran up to 16 miles slowly with no problems as long as I run slow!! But if I try and do...

exercise limitations

I had my ICD implanted six months ago and begun exercising. I have started using a stationary bike, martial arts and weight lifting. My doctor has stated that I do not have any restrictions except having physical contact to the device area. The nurses state that I can not do any bench pressing or military press. I would like to read what others have experienced.
