My CRT-D implanted on 01/06/2014, after failing to respond to drug therapy. I had no idea there was a problem. Apparently I have had this about 30 years. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Cardiomyopathy, LBBB and an EF of 25% and no symptoms. My procedure, I'm told was about 3 hours. I was kept overnight for an xray in the AM to make sure the leads had not moved. I was then discharged. It was somewhat painful, but not impossible, I returned to work the next week. 5 mos later my EF was 45%...

Hi All,
Hope all is good and your PM is giving you the best out of it.
May god be with you all and continue to give you support each day.
Question,
Mom with kids in the USA, can you give an average cost to change the battery on a kid age,8 yrs old.
Appreciate your response...

" None since 1935 when I had an involuntary circumcision.

We went on a short break with friends and my son and his girlfriend to Cornwall this past week. On Tuesday we walked from Lelant to St Ives. There was one steepish section and at the end of it my son said to his girlfriend "why is it you are huffing and puffing yet my almost septagenarian dad (not happy as I'm 66!) is doing fine?". His girlfriend quickly replied "well I don't have a pacemaker to help me out". I laughed and gave her a kiss. John.

Got my PM two days ago. Been reading this ant that . All info I can find. Thru most of the info I have read it states it is ok to use electrical weedeaters and edgers and such. But highly dont recommend mowers, gas chainsaws, or other gas machinery. Has anyone else read or know if this is true. Since my job is a Grounds keeper it is real important to me. I dont meet with my Dr for another three weeks. anyone got a comment

It's been exactly a week since I had my PM/Defibrillator installed. Last night I woke up and my pinky and ring fingers on post hands were asleep. My heard was racing but not beating real hard like I had been running. Didn't hurt at all but extremely weird and uncomfortable. Anyone experience this or know what is happening and should I call and get checked out. This has never happened to me at all.

Is coming back tomorrow. Hoping it goes better then last time. Feeling much better than 3 weeks ago so I think I am ready for the battle this time!! I have also been seeing a counselor which, although I was skeptical, has really helped.

I am 5 weeks post op and woke up yesterday with ton of energy.
Starting to feel like my old self again. Then after I got out of the shower this morning I noticed an Indention running about middle of pacemaker set, top yo bottom. I have an area with a small scab on the incision site snd Indention runs close to it. Strange!! I do not feel bad. Anyone else had something like this? Going to Dr in the morning. Texted him a picture and he said nothing to worry about but idk if it is normal!

Hello, it's been 5 weeks since I had a PM placed due to heart block. I'm 55, in good health, exercise regularly and my only issue before was high cholesterol controlled by meds.
Since the PM was installed (on my right side)I have felt like I'm not firing on all cylinders. I feel shaky, as if I haven't eaten and every so often I need to take a deep breath, it's as if I'm playing catchup. I do not have any pain, just discomfort at times on the right side of my chest.
I'v...

A lot of people put up posts asking if things ever get back to normal after having the PM implanted.
I was wondering about that myself, especially since my PM was implanted in an emergency situation and I woke up after everything was done. I didn't get the chance to go through the advance notice and mental adjustment before waking up with the PM already implanted. Fortunately things have progressed very well and most times I forget I even have the dag-gone thing.
After sev...

Hi, I've had my pacemaker since October of 2013. I wasn't sure where to post, so I chose General Posting. When I went for my 2-week checkup to the cardiologist, he had also checked my pacemaker, and said it was working fine although I had complained of throbbing sensations. Then I changed doctors and went for the one month checkup back in November of 2013 to another dr. than the one who inserted my pacemaker, and she said that the pacemaker is not working well, and it needs to be changed and...

I've had 2 different doctors say things to me recently that almost offended me until I realized what they meant was not the way it came out of their mouth and then I laughed. Just wondering what funny things your doctors may have said to you?
1. At a trip to my cardiologist I mentioned that my PM was sticking out and "rubbing" against my skin. He took a look at it and very seriously in his accent said "If you were just a little bit fatter it wouldn't stick out so much." Nice!

hi all
i am new here and have just been told that i will need to have a pm put in and that has been scheduled for this saturday. today is tuesday and i am getting anxious and stressed. i know i should not be having read the postings here. i am 72, having af and blackouts too frequently. there was another unusual symptom - a buzz in my head and a slow spreading warmth down to my waist. no doctor could explain it but it is something that i now link to my heart stopping and restarting and the...
