Just wanted to send out a follow up from my surgery on Friday 4/4. I had an ablation, lead extraction, and pacemaker revision. I am happy that I was under general anesthesia again:) my EP started with the ablation, then moved up to the pacemaker. The entire procedure only took 5.5 hours. Afterwards I had a bit of trouble waking up. I was on bedrest for 6 hours after, laying flat on my back. The worst part was having to void, and not being able to get out of bed. I ended up needed to be cathed, b...

So, this morning before 8am, I get a call from the pacer clinic that my nightly monitoring showed I may have dislocated my right lead! (HUH?) I didn't think that was possible after 5 1/2 months.
Thankfully, I did not, but they were saying words that I just didn't get. new 2:1 heart block. Atrial Fib. Wenchbak and others I can't remember. They reprogrammed my pm and sent me on my way. I did google the above but that just confused me even more!
Anway, is it possible to pull leads out t...

................Hi everyone......on the 10th it will be a whole year since we lost Electric Frank...
I have spoken with Blake ( Admin ) and he was ok with me raising the topic. I just know that Frank was so special for so many people here in PMC and a kind of anniversary will bring back the great memories that he left us with.

Hello all,
I am a healthy and very active (fly fishing guide) 52 yr old male who was blindsided with a pacer.
On 4.2 I had a pacer implanted as a result of a complete bundle branch block due to an ablation while treating a partial bilateral bundle branch block with out any underlying heart conditions or disease.
The complete block left me with two choices, a life time of meds or a pacer, so I took door number 2 the pacer, no looking back now!
As a full time fishing guide...

The procedure went fairly well. A little pain when they were pushing and tugging but tolerable. I think i'm feeling a tad bit better although i'm tired and kinda weak they say just from sitting in bed so long. This morning when they interrogated the PM they said I was still in A-fib so he's bumped up my rhythmol but my heart rate is MUCH steadier and the nurses and everyone said it was definitely needed! my chest area is of course a little sore but really no restrictions other than the lifting a...

Hi, I have had a pacemaker for 3.5yrs now and after some recent issues I stumbled upon this site....thank goodness.
I was given a pacemaker for Bradycardia (21bpm at rest) at the age of 48. Since then I took up running, lost a lot of weight and live a very healthy active lifestyle. In August I had my bi-annual checkup, ecg, echo etc and went home. By the time December rolled around my exhauastion was worse than it had ever been before the pacemaker was inserted. A visit to my GP resultedin...

many, many thanks to those of you who sent messages regarding my concerns for resynchronization therapy and icd. I meet with my surgeon next week and have added some of your thoughts to my list of questions. I have also read posts by members on this site who are experiencing complications/pain, etc. it is so difficult to make a decision. your comments, however, are comforting.

My questions is that has anyone ever heard the story that a person has to wait until the leads have a chance to mature in a patients body before any pacemaker settings can be changed?

I guys I just got my pacemaker on Friday and I am looking for support groups here in central texas. I am still trying to get used to the idea of having died twice last week . I have bradycardia and I am only 48 years old so just a little freaked out. I am a rural mail carrier and I am wondering should I go back to work or what . Again it's all still so new and scary .

hi all
my first time on this site. my doctors have recommended resynchronization therapy with a defibrillator. I am most anxious about this. I have been reading recent studies and the success rate appears to be 50/50. I have also read about possible complications. I would like to hear from those of you who have cardiomyopathy, low ejection fraction, left branch bundle block, and qrs about 140. wow! I can't believe I have all of these - looks dreadful on paper.
I would love to hear...

Hi,
Haven't been on for a while so just wanted to wish everyone well and hope everyone is healthy and happy!

And all just in t...

My Husband and I took the class yesterday. It was a very good class, informative and fun, I highly recommend it. We took the class through the American Heart Association, a GREAT organization. It also covered child and infant CPR and First Aid....just about everything.....but NOT everything.
I asked in the beginning of the class if they talk about CPR on someone with a pacemaker/ ICD. The Nurse/ Instructor said yes they will. We went through the whole class and watched numerous v...

I am having a PM implant on April 16th. I am left handed but have a monitor implant on my left side that will have to come out when PM implanted.
Trying to decide whether I should just have the PM implant on left side since I will have to be cut on that side anyway and I understand the left side is easier for the Doctor to work from.
I have an old rotator cuff injury on my left side which really flared up when they put the monitor in last year and that is also a factor I am wonder...

Monday I go in for a PM! Little scared but he said I would feel SOOO much better!! Bring it on! I guess!! I guess that's what I get for my month long Monitor! I'm still in Afib as well but they can't give me any more drugs to treat that until the PM because the Rhythmol is already decreasing my heart rate too much. as far as ablating he said he really couldn't do that because of the heart surgery I had when I was 25 to repair ASD --he doesn't want to go thru to the other side of heart where he t...

I had a pacemeker installed 7 weeks ago. There is only one, on demand setting which is for it to activate if my heart beat goes below 40 per minute. I feel good with no dizziness or threat of fainting which were my problems before the pacemaker was inserted. I am doing some light physical activities but no lifting with left arm over 10 pounds and do not put left elbow over my head.
Does playing billiards (8 ball) constitute raising your elbow over your head? Should I avoid it?
