While on the treadmill today, my wife was on her cell speaking to a friend who informed her that this friend's hubby has had an ablation (he also had a PM implanted 6 months earlier.) I never heard of an ablation being performed after a PM implant. In my case, after 3 failed Atrial ablations, my AV node was destroyed, and a 3 - lead Medtronic Consulta implanted. Anyone have more info on this type of scenario?
Also -- just curious -- another issue I have is testing positive for the anti...

Hope everybody is doing good. Myself, well I'm still hanging in there. Still in and out the hospital weekly now. More meds and the list is now 3 pages long.
The weather has been great the last week here and I been getting outside as much as I can. When I went to New Orleans last Tuesday for a check up, my doctor told me I looked good. Got a little sun burn the day before. The bad thing was that I had put 10 lbs on overnight. Heck, I was drowning in fluid. Once he saw what was going on...

The pacemaker's automatic mode switching function (AMS) was mentioned in a recent post by Sullis65.
I found the topic interesting and believe I would benefit from it as I have a problem with A-fib.
I am hoping that someone can tell me if this function needs to be turned on by the technician to work or whether it is at work from Day One.

Hi :-)
I'm new to this forum, AND I'm from Norway so i hope you excuse my written English :-)
I have a sick sinus syndrom, and i got my PM in summer 2010. Since that i have had a little anxiety about my heart, although the doctor says everything is ok and that i should meet a psychiatrist to solve that out.
My problem was that I felt some heavy heartbeat at the same time every day, and that scared me for years, thanks to this forum I now understand that this is probably the...

Before my pacemaker my resting HR would be in the 40's 50's range--now sitting here it's averaging about 68--my PM is set to pace if I go below 60 --does that mean that when I feel my pulse at 68 that it's my own heart that's doing it??(without PM intervention??) I do have rate response and ADL at 95 what ever that means. I was just curious--I almost can't wait until next week when i'm interrogated for the first time to actually see what it's doing for me--I do know that i'm feeling better and m...

Had my Dual lead Pacer placed Feb 6, 2014. Today I had my first Pacer check-up (2 months). I learned that the Pacer was working 88% of the time (a lot more then I had anticipated!). My low setting is 64 and high is 130. I mentioned the problem I am having with shortness of breath and wondered if it could be the settings, or the Sotalol I'm on since the Pacer implant. I was told adjustments could be made, which he did, so now I'll see if that helps. What experiences have others had with this...

An eminent cardiologist in London died recently and at his funeral his coffin was placed next to an enormous mock-up of a heart made entirely of flowers.
It was a lovely tribute to a man who had dedicated his life to just one part of the human body.
Different coloured flowers made up the atria, the ventricles, even the aorta and tricuspid valve were all flowers; a perfect floral replica of the human heart.
Many people are looking forward with great interest...

I don't want to use this site as a place to vent and annoy others with my whinning. I just wish VA could hurry up with whatever it takes to process my claim and let me move on with my life. I am so tired of being told to be patient. I have provided everything they need... I am stuck in the "gathering of evidence" portion according to ebenifits. My apologies, I just think my pacemaker being used more because of the stress of the system... Don't want my battery running down to fast. HAHA!

To all parents of kids with ICDs and pacemakers:
Thanks for your love and support of your child.
I am a 22 years old with Long QT and an ICD. I was diagnosed when I was 13 or 14 and got my ICD when I was 15. It was hell. I was very active. Before all this happened, I kayaked, biked, ran, snowboarded, and was generally energetic (hyper) and active like any young male. It killed me when I was first diagnosed. Initially, because of my diagnosis, doctors basically told me...

Hello, I have had my St Jude ICD for a year now due to a massive VTC incident. A few months later, they also found SVTC but took care of that with Sotalol. Was also diagnosed with pulmonary sarcoid which is what spread into the heart and caused the scarring, leading to the tachycardias. Around November, I started feeling pressure on my chest. I feel it just walking around, climbing stairs, and trying some light exercise. It feels horrible. It then discourages me from doing more exercise. It hasn...

After ten years of meds for A-Fib, two catheter ablations and a Total Thoroscopic Maze, followed by four cardio versions, my EP is suggesting that I consider an AV Node ablation and installation of a PM. Not sure I am ready for this, and would like to know others experience with decision making and if there are any significant drawbacks to being active, like playing tennis, golf and working out at this gym. Will be 65 this fall, and CHAD score may support the decision since I also have hight...

I had a pacemaker implanted two weeks ago and am getting ready to return to work. I'm a maintenance tech for an apartment complex and I need to know if I can still repair air conditioners. Does anyone know if this will effect my pacemaker.

I had a pacemaker installed in February and two subsequent checkups showed that I was being paced at less than 1 percent. Prior to the installation of the pacemaker, I had four dizzy spells in a two week span I actually passed out briefly on the last episode. I was wearing a heart monitor at the time (I got it that morning) and the complete heart block episode was caught on the monitor. Two days later I had a pacemaker. The doctors said it is too dangerous to walk around without protection.....

A properly implanted and adjusted pacemaker will not even be noticeable after you get over the surgery.
