Shortness of Breath

Had my Dual lead Pacer placed Feb 6, 2014. Today I had my first Pacer check-up (2 months). I learned that the Pacer was working 88% of the time (a lot more then I had anticipated!). My low setting is 64 and high is 130. I mentioned the problem I am having with shortness of breath and wondered if it could be the settings, or the Sotalol I'm on since the Pacer implant. I was told adjustments could be made, which he did, so now I'll see if that helps. What experiences have others had with this? I have had AF for 3+ yrs now although only 3 episodes in that time as meds seemed to keep it in check (Digoxin & Diltiazem). My lungs tested excellent. I am a female and over 75.

It's very common to take a some tweaking to get the settings just right for us. They start the settings at their best guess then adjust from there if we have symptoms. They like to make the changes in small increments so it's not uncommon to take more than once. After they get us feeling good, they make some additional changes we won't feel but that will maximize battery life.

Pacemaker Call Ins?

I have been told that some people call in monthly with PM reports. I, however, was told that I should go in every 6 months for the PM check-up, that monthly was not really necessary - only if I wanted! I don't understand the difference here.

checking vs fixing

If all is well, it's fine to go every 6 months for a check. If you have symptoms in the mean time, it's appropriate to call and ask to be seen sooner.
