i had told my husband at christmas of 2005 i could not go to brazil for the winter as i did not feel right but could not figure out what was wrong. he came home in april and i was fainting on and off. finally in august after a few ekg's and holters i walked in to ekg and my pulse rate was 28. needless to say i was given a temporary pacemaker and a few days later a permanent one. i slept for the next three months before i felt better. then i felt better than i had in months. i usually have a lot of energy still. hope this helps you. jessie

Give yourself time

I just had mine done on Monday and although I can tell there is a significant improvement, i'm still a little tired and drained. Our bodies have gone thru a lot before the placement and they need to adjust to the new heart rates. It takes a little while for the incisions to heal as well. Welcome to the forum there is a lot of support and great people here!

Welcome! As kmom says, it takes time to recover from surgery. Your body needs to adjust. It took me about 2 weeks before I really started feeling better. I do not know your diagnosis but I only have heart block. I asked my Dr. if I would have more energy after I got my pacemaker and he told me no, probably not because I do not have bradycardia. You have come to the right place. This group has helped me a lot! I am going on almost 8 weeks now and am really doing well.

Take care,

~Sheila

hope your feeling okay

I'm 23 years old i had a pacemaker implanted april 11th 2014. A few days afterwards i started feeling like an energizer battery sometimes more energy than I know what to do with lol except for.yesterday all i wanted to do was sit down no energy what so ever at least didnt feel like i was going to pass out all the time like I did before surgery. You need to see what the base heart rate is set at see if they can set it to 60 or 65. I can tell when my heart rate went to about 60 before and even now since i have the pm when it gets to 60 i start feeling a little tired except now ts temporary literally a few seconds maybe minutes sometimes and than i have a lot of energy. I know for sure because i take my pulse its about 60 sometimes lower and feel tired before i had the.pm and now when i feel tired its low right about 60 hope this helps :/

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
