Cookies-off topic

Iced decorated butter cookies, spritz, gingerbread men, thumbprints, peanut butter blossoms, lemon shortbread, orange zested Mexican wedding cakes, molasses cookies, Fannie May fudge, peanut butter fudge, sugared pecans, cinnamon rolls, pecan, pumpkin, and apple pies. Thank God the sea salt caramels were an epic fail, or I might gain weight. Too bad they couldn't put a sensor in the pm that gives a tiny-or not so tiny-nip when I get too close to these.

a couple questions

Hi! I got my PM Monday. The pacer folks re-set my device from 50 to 60 yesterday. (We can call 50 the prior "minimum" or not, since the pacer folks said the pacer was doing 98% of the work at 50. At 60, I'm guessing the pacer will be setting the pace 100% of the time.) I have a bit more energy now, but still don't feel especially good. Anyway, here are my two questions:

I've had A-fib and flutter for years, so I've gotten used to a (wrist) pulse that's pretty irregular. I timed 60 reg...

Blue Tooth Headphones

I am the recipient of a Medtronics PaceMaker, implanted about two weeks ago. I am grateful! I run a couple of businesses, and spend lots of time on the phone. My headset of choice has been an LG BlueTooth device that lays on my shoulders around my neck. It then has earbuds that rest in each ear in typical earbud fashion. The device itself has a magnet in each end for "storing" the buds when they're not in use. The magnets are very weak, just enough to hold a nearly weightless earbud, but t...

magnets

I have recently bought a mini IPad. Yes at last my grandchildren are making my un-technical self become more technical! I want to buy a case for it which will 'swivel' but have been told that there is a magnet in the case which could affect the pm. Can I please have any thoughts on this? Thanks.

So I'm a klutz...

Hello All! Just thought I would post this to the community at large, and see your thoughts.

Last Saturday I got caught in that snowstorm that raked through Ohio. I was playing with the orchestra, and after rehearsal they had not cleared the alleyway of the 6 inches of heavy wet snow that had accumulated.

Me being the klutz that I am totally slipped and fell in the snow. Luckily didn't get hurt other than bruises and bruised pride, but I'm worried about sparky, especial...

Magnets and Anesthesia

I had a surgery today and one of the things my cardiologist wrote on the clearance paper was for them to put a magnet over my pacer when administering the anesthesia. Thing is when they put the magnet over it, I felt like my heart was stopping and they quickly had to pull the magnet off. I'm wondering has anyone else ever had to have such a weird thing done before? I slightly worried that it did something to my pacer, because when I woke up afterwords my heart rate was in the 60's. My normal rat...

Contraindications for receiving biofeedback

Is it safe to participate in Neuo-Biofeedback? I have had 3 treatments for positive thinking....asked practitioner if there were any contraindications to having a pacemaker. She said no, but now others are expressing concerns. As my breathing begins to slow, I get a heavy feeling, like I can't breath. I then breath faster and more shallow to relieve sensation. Is that a reaction caused by an interaction between my pacemaker and the biofeedback?

SKIN APPEARANCE

Hi, had my pacemaker implanted in November and I feel great, before my pacemaker I noticed I was getting veins sticking out on legs really bad and didn't associate it with my heart. I thought it was just age I guess. Since my pacemaker I noticed that they are 90% gone. Not visible anyways. This makes me very happy of course and I guess my question is has anybody else notice this happen to them?

Nothing but problems

From two+ weeks, I been running a low grade fever on and off. Last Thursday, fever got higher. By Saturday, it was hitting 102.7. From there, I been eating something for the fever around the clock. Saturday night, I was in very bad shape and went to the local ER. More blood work! Everything looked somewhat good, but now waiting on the culture return. I also had one hell of a weight gain(fluid) and a big lost. 10 lb swing in two days.

Now a new problem that started yesterday. My CRT-D...

1ST Pacemaker this Thursday

I was attempting to figure out which model. I am a Amateur (Radio) Operator which will require me to make sure my antennas are outside and probably not be able to run higher power levels anymore. There was an article on the ARRL National Organization's website that said, "I can still use my equipment but with caution."

I am looking at the Medtronic but I am not sure what they will attempt to give me on Thursday.

I have had significant weight loss and they are hoping the...

My lovely teenage neighbor saw me shoveling snow and yelled Mom, she's shoveling snow! Her mom: Go over there right now! I tried to tell her it was fine but she insisted on helping finish my long driveway. Saturday the two wonderful men in my life showed up to clear the drive. I explained I could do it, no problem but they insisted. Today at the clinic I needed to shovel the sidewalk and my MA insisted she do it because have a pm. 20 & need a pacemaker

Hello, my name is Lauren. I am 20 years old, and I recently found out that I am going to have to get a pacemaker next month. I have never had surgery before. I am worried about getting put to sleep, and I am still a little hesitant about getting a pacemaker in general. Any information about pacemakers that I can get will be extremely helpful and appreciated.

Thank you,

Lauren

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
