I have recently bought a mini IPad. Yes at last my grandchildren are making my un-technical self become more technical! I want to buy a case for it which will 'swivel' but have been told that there is a magnet in the case which could affect the pm. Can I please have any thoughts on this? Thanks.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I shall go next week to buy one. I knew I could have advice from this club. Wonderful. I feel quite "Grown Down!" That means when you grow up you have children and you teach them things. Then there comes a time when your grandchildren, who have not finished growing up, teach their Nan things. I love it.

With any tech gadget so far, and I frequently lay my iPad with its magnetic cover directly on my chest, and talk on my iPhone on the same side.
These devices are so well-insulated these days that general everyday magnets should not affect it, though some of the ones they use in our HS science lab are fairly strong, so my science teacher friends say I should stay away from them.
I would do what you most comfortable with.

no problems here

I have a magnetic cover, no problems. I like to read in bed with the ipad propped on my chest. I took it to a pm check to see if we could get it to have an effect but nothing happened. Industrial magnets are really the only ones we need to worry about.

I am not planning on letting any of this shorten my life. I am planning on living a long happy battery operated life. You never know maybe it will keep me alive longer. I sure know one thing I would have been dead before starting school without it.
Shouldn't be a problem

The magnets used in the catches and flaps of the cases used for cellphones and tablets are very low power and unless you put the magnet directly on your PM, it should have no effect whatsoever. I have a magnetic catch in my cellphone pouch which lives on my belt so that isn't any problem. My tablet also has a magnet in its case closure device but that is also never closer to my PM than over a foot away (I have a 10" Sony Xperia Z). Your mini iPad shouldn't cause any problems.
