I had the Metronic Revo pacemaker put in 3 months ago and I have never felt better. I had written earlier with questions before the implant and received such encouraging comments about how much better I would feel, and I want to say they were right. My "concrete" legs are light again I have energy, my Syncopy is gone, I don't sleep all the time and with pills, my blood pressure is normal for the first time.
I don't even notice the implant and have worn a bathing suit without even thinking...

I don't have a PM but I know alot on this board are dealing with A-fib issues. After my EP was very sure that my swelling in legs was NOT due to my heart--I waited a few months (suggested by cardio--trying other methods of elevation, low salt, compression etc.) then got an appt with my GP. I went in last thursday and because my BP was high (160/90) and I was complaining about my legs being so swollen he put me on hydrochlorothiazide. It has worked Wonders for my swelling and I've gone from 217...

I am 24 years old and Im 16 wks pregnant. I was born with third degree heartblock and had my first pacemaker implanted at age 7. Im just wondering if anyone has had children who have a pm & if so, what complications did you encounter? Any adjustments that had to be made? My O.B. & my Cardiologist have both referred me to a specialty hospital bc neither one of them know what to expect.. (O.B. says c-section due to stress on the heart, while cardi. says natural will be fine. & ect. ect. ect.) I ju...

Iâve been making comments on the boards. This is my story about getting my pacemaker.
I was walking my sonâs dogs on a pet trail at a local park. I collapsed after walking 3 ½ miles with the dogs and was almost immediately found by another person walking their dog and a jogger. These two individuals called 911. They were able to give the EMTâs enough of a description of where I was so they were able to park the ambulance close by.
The Park Ranger had previous...

I am 31 years old with a 3rd degree heart block and until recently I have been asymptomatic I was diagnosed at three weeks old. My Cardiologist is telling me that it's time to get a pacemaker but I am concerned that the symptoms I am having are not what people generally describe for a 3rd degree heart block. For the past week I have been feeling very lethargic and I have no energy. My hands face and legs go numb off and on. My hands get clammy. I feel like I can't sit still at times. I feel like...

Going on a cruise and just checking a few concerns.
Not a "drinker" but I enjoy a glass of wine with dinner occasionally, and a Bailey's once in awhile. I only have wine with dinner if I am home...too cheap to buy it when eating out. Usually go to the Captains Party on the ship and have one or two of what they are offering. Probably the only alcohol I'll have on the ship.
I also love to use the Jacuzzi on the ship. The arthritis in my knees is really helped, as I can't t...

I get my PM this coming Friday. The doc has chosen a St Jude but happy to use Medtronic. He said they're basically all alike. Any comments on that?
Also...how about MRI-compatible vs plain vanilla. Doc says that MRIs don't really affect newer pacemakers anyway, whereas the MRI-compatible ones need special leads.
Got this brand new battery :)

Tracy E, Pacer Rep & Don b, thank you guys so much for tapping into my post some weeks ago...sorry I didn't get back to the post the following day as I was feeling pretty miserable. You guys were totally right...my blood pressure was low & my bpm was always at 70...i'm now 2 weeks post- op & doing pretty well...the sight looks as if nothing was ever done, just feel the understandable tightening & soreness around the sight mostly when I raise my arm, thinking this will probably increase as I form...

Not to scare anyone, but I just read on NBC. Com about the FDA recalling wires made by Medtronic. Has anyone else read this and should I be worried about my newly places pm?

Hi Smitty,
I just opened the photo gallery and saw a picture I believe was recently posted by you regarding the dual chamber pacemaker diagram.
Very informative.

I have been diagnosed with Bradycardia. I'm a 47 year old male 6'6" 265lbs. I have been having dizzy spells and tingling in my limbs for years. I just thought because of my size it was a part of life. Everything I read a PM is in my future. Please tell me what to expect. I have a contrasting echo next. Not sure what happens after that. Thank You

I was just looking through a few post and noticing ages. The people on here that are my age had their pm implanted when they were younger, or there is a larger age gap to the next person. I know age is just a number but being my age and getting a pm has been quite the experience. Just looking to see if there are others out there around my age that needed one. Mine was implanted august 6, 2013 a week before my 25 birthday. Dealing with my life style changes have been quite hard bc not only do I h...

So I was scheduled for a minor outpatient procedure today with general anesthesia. The center called yesterday to get my medical history (the same medical history the surgeon was well aware of) and later called and said the anesthesiologist refused to do the procedure until after I was checked out by cardiology. I just had a pacer check in September and everything was fine. While I am relieved to avoid the procedure, it entailed taking time off work, rescheduling my patients, and closing the o...

Well, I handed in my Zio Patch a few days ago (14 days of continuous heart monitoring) and met with my cardiologist yesterday. In the meantime I was feeling better and better. Bradycardia went away, HR now back to normal at 65 resting and up to 135 or higher when exercising. Still, he said I had twelve instances of 3rd degree heat block while wearing the monitor, when asleep at night, ranging up to 11 seconds of asystole. Most asystole episodes were in the first few days of the monitoring when I...

So early this morning I was struggling to wake up from a nice deep sleep because of a pounding heart beat and queasy chest. I was caught in that sleepy half awake state while trying to make myself push the event record button. In the mean time, my wife woke up and said my monitor was beeping like crazy. So on with the lights, lets see whats going on haha. Well the monitor display is flashing all kinds of messages none of which made much sense like the ones that said "internal monitor failure, an...

Thank you everyone for your replies of support over the past few
days. I am feeling much better having been able to shower and go out driving myself. Now for a question. How many of you all have a Medic Alert jewelry piece stating you have a pacemaker?

Hi All,
I have been doing my own research and also with the help of several on this site have come to the conclusion that the correct and only pacemaker for me with sinus brady and chronotropic incompetence is one made by Sorin Or Boston Scientific with dual sensor rate response.
What should i then do if the doc recommends another brand?

I am 3 weeks post implant and have been back to driving for a week. Driving back and forth to the office (a four mile trip) results in no issues. Last Saturday, at the end of a 14 mile drive I felt faint and asked my wife to take the wheel for the return trip. Today, at the end of an hour and a half trip, I started again to feel faint and was very wiped out. After spending nearly three hours at the location, I attempted the return trip and made it about half way before I was felling faint once...
