Thank you everyone for your replies of support over the past few
days. I am feeling much better having been able to shower and go out driving myself. Now for a question. How many of you all have a Medic Alert jewelry piece stating you have a pacemaker?

Pendant

I ordered a pendant, which I wear around my neck. On the back it says, "PaceMaker - See Wallet". I bought it as a safety measure, plus I thought it might help when going through airport security.

I was going to get a medic alert bracelet but I am really bad at remembering important things like such. Instead I ended up getting a tattoo on my wrist stating I have a pacemaker. You can't really forget that. I was still considering getting a bracelet also to wear when I remember.
Silicone

Hi Butterflin2, I have a silicone alert band I got of Amazon, I can shower and wash in it and I never take it off. The last time I had to ring the emergency ambulance the Paramedics spotted it straight away, so it appears to work!
It may be psychological ,but it does give a sense of reassurance, but then I'm nut's!
Keep warm and vertical
God Bless

Here in South Africa you have to join the Medic Alert organisation (for a nominal fee) then buy one of the various bracelets or pendants they offer. I have other allergies and medical conditions so I have been a member for years. I had to update my database when my PM was implanted and buy a new bracelet with 'pacemaker' added to the rest of my medical conditions.
I choose to wear a stainless steel bracelet but both bracelets and pendants come in sterling silver and 9ct gold for them that want it. Emergency medical staff here are trained to automatically check for bracelets and pendants and this could save your life one day.
I have no experience of Medic Alert outside my own country, but I still believe it is an organisation worth joining.

I had a bracelet made up by sticky jewelry but I really don't wear it. I carry a card in my wallet-- that's it!!
Road ID

I got a road ID as soon as I had my PM implanted, I feel comfortable knowing if I'm out running or really anyplace and I have a incident they immediately know I have a pace maker and there is a number to call that gives all my contact phone #'s and medications and drs. etc
Another point of view

At no time, here in the UK, has anyone suggested that having a PM justifies buying jewellery of any kind.
I now know 6 people here with PMs; none of them carry anything other than a PM card / leaflet.
My view is save your money; don't bother, you don't need it ! If I had an ICD then I MAY consider it but with a PM
I just don 't see the point !

I bought the sterling silver bracelet but because it was too small for my info, I hung the small pendant on it with allergies listed.. Between the two it has the word pacemaker, my husbands phone and my allergy listed. Someone commented on my pretty jewelry because I wear another Brighton silver one with it. I feel more secure with it. I have the card in my wallet.
I have a bracelet

When I am out with my family, I don't wear it. If I am out alone I do wear it but there are times I forget it.
I have an ICD and I also carry my device card and have a copy of my current meds in my purse.

I have one

I have an ICD and I wear my bracelet everyday. I never take it off. I also have the card in my wallet and a list of my medications. It doesn't bother me to wear it. I'd rather be safe than sorry. That's just me.

I have a cheap bracelet that I purchased at CVS. I am considering getting one with a membership online. That way, I can provide all my medical data. If something happens, a call can be placed to the company asking for details and information.
