I have been diagnosed with Bradycardia. I'm a 47 year old male 6'6" 265lbs. I have been having dizzy spells and tingling in my limbs for years. I just thought because of my size it was a part of life. Everything I read a PM is in my future. Please tell me what to expect. I have a contrasting echo next. Not sure what happens after that. Thank You

Did they say what's causing the brady? Brady just means your hr gets below 60bpm but it can be caused by different things. Have you had a holter to see how low you get and how often? It's nice to know they why's, but really, it doesn't much matter what causes it, if your heart is too slow and you are symptomatic, the pm is pretty much the only choice. There are no meds that will raise a hr. The good news is,it's a fairly easy fix.
I'm the same age as you, but I got my first pm in 1994. I'm healthy and active, it doesn't keep me from doing anything I want to do. If you are dizzy often, you will probably find you feel better with it. I was always tired and dizzy before, my energy level skyrocketed and no more dizziness.
If you have questions about the surgery or recovery, ask away. We've all been there. Living with one of these is really no big deal once you heal and get used to it. I rarely give it a thought. You will get there, too.
bradycardia too

I have bradycardia caused by dysautonomia. Had a pacemaker - BIOTRONIK Evia- put in on 10/9. I am very happy with it and am much happier with a resting pulse in the 60s rather than 40s. Best of luck to you.
I am 49.

I am 100% pacemaker dependant and have been all my life. I try not to think about how a little metal box keeps me alive - it would drive me crazy. So I lead a very active life.

Well after your contrast you should be told if you have any valves that are blocked . And when the will be putting your pace maker. I am 46 yr old female . I got my pace maker put in One month ago and i still cant get use to it . It seems like forever . Hopefully you recover sooner than i have. Good luck and God bless. you.
