Metronic pacemaker results

I had the Metronic Revo pacemaker put in 3 months ago and I have never felt better. I had written earlier with questions before the implant and received such encouraging comments about how much better I would feel, and I want to say they were right. My "concrete" legs are light again I have energy, my Syncopy is gone, I don't sleep all the time and with pills, my blood pressure is normal for the first time.
I don't even notice the implant and have worn a bathing suit without even thinking about it. Wish I had it a couple of years ago before I developed Syncopy and fainted about 10 times. I do, however, have to take Sotalol for AFIB.

Question for you

I'm glad to hear everything goes well for you. Questions for you: Do you have any side effects from taking Sotalol?
Do you have paroxysmal Afib or chronic Afib? Since I had my PM back in March, I haven't taken any meds, but recently my Afib is restarted, and I may have to get on meds, but really hesitated. Any advice? Thank you.

Thank you

Thank you for your reply. After my PM back in March this year, they did prescribed me Flecainide, but I decided not to take them, so I don't know how good it is. I went on taking supplements Magnesium and Taurine. Recently, I decide to get off Taurine and notice the restart of Afib (or some kind of arrythmia, not sure). So, I'm thinking meds now, but still hesitating because it's all new to me. I have paroxysmal Afib. Did you have any side effects from Flecainide? Any further comments are welcome. Thanks again.

Afib

I have chronic AFib but it became much worse right after the PM. I was taking the maximum dose twice a day of Flecainide but it didn't control it. They weaned me off Flecainide and put me in the hospital for 3 days to monitor me on Sotalol 80 mg twice a day. I have had no AFib and no side effects.

They may start you on Flecainide which doesn't require hospital monitoring. I had no side effects but the dose kept having to be increased.

Hope this answers your question.

Flecainide

I had no side effects at all but had to take it exactly 12 hours apart as I also have to take Sotalol. I started with 50 mg twice a day and then 100 mg twice a day and then 150 mg twice a day which is the maximum. On the smaller doses I had break-throughs of AFib flutter which would take my wind and I had difficulty talking with any volume and couldn't seem to walk well. That's the reason for the increase.

I have no side effects with Sotalol but because of the hospital monitoring, it must be a more dangerous drug. I don't know that though.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
