Downturn in stamina cont.....

I should add that while I have these episodes, I do have an extreme amount of weakness from my knees to my toes, almost to the point of it's major effort to walk, etc... (an example would be that even pushing the gas pedal in my car is great effort). In the beginning of the episodes, I also had the weakness from my elbows to my fingertips.

Downturn in stamina

I was diagnosed with Sick Sinus Syndrome and received a pacemaker August 20, 2012. I will turn 50 in August and have lead a very active and healthy lifestyle up until my diagnosis. I had no blockage and as my cardiologist stated, "my heart was squeaky clean and my health was enviable", however, due to SSS, a pacemaker was the next step. After a slow recovery, I was able to get back on my treadmill and slowly worked on improving my stamina, actually working my way from a 1/8 mile up to 2 1/2 mile...

Hello EVERYONE

I have put together an explanation of what is going on during a pacemaker check. It is just aimed at pacemakers not ICD's but when you have an ICD check you have the 'Brady' side of your pacemaker checked too so its till relevant!

Anyway I know you probably wonder what we do when we check your pacemaker so I am sure you are going to enjoy this!

device security

It has been demonstrated that pacemakers can be hacked. Not a good thing. The manufacturers ignore this problem. They keep the softwear secret so it can't be analysed and fixed. I could be in a room where someone else is the target and I become collateral damage. I want and deserve firmware that has been patched. Manufacturers have to stop ingnoring this problem. They say there is no problem. Perhaps they don't use their own devices.

Lesson Learned !!

As it's been such a whirlwind with my pacemaker changes this past year & being near back to normal I just want to pass on some info. My 4th replacement pacemaker was in 2009 & did a great job until it eroded. As my site had lots of scar tissue & was not taken care of & also no interogation prior to my 5th replacement implant.
Within hours while still hospitalized I noticed my monitor showed HR resting 50 or less. I was told my replacement was just working "fine". I just asumed I had se...

Holiday - warning

Be aware folks - I booked a holiday and then read the small print that I had to declare a pre-existing medical treatment. I phoned the insurance company and was told that they wouldn't insure me as at least 2 months have to have passed since the operation.

OK - Now what???

Brand new at this. Had my hardware installed last Wednesday. Apparently someone got excited when my heart rate hit 38 bpm. Surgery not a lot of fun, took a long time to stop the bleeding due to the excessive warfarin I take for a metal aortic valve. I told the Dr. that I now have more than enough hardware installed and requested that he perform a software upgrade for my brain while he was at it. Apparently he didn't.

OK - it's been six days. When does the left side of my chest start t...

Shocks

I am 46 and have had a pacemaker for 9 years. New implant in 2012. Here is my situation, my pacemaker is on the right side with lead cords runnin across my chest to heart. ( veins were to small for leads on left side.) During the past month I have had several minutes of shock like jabs under my right arm. this has happened about 3 times over the month. Anyone else have anything like this?

Heart Rate

I am reading different things on here about HRs and it has me wondering - but I don't about what yet. After I had my ablation in February I was kept over night in the hospital. And of course I was being monitored. And every time I would approach a deep sleep I would be startled awake by the audible alarm because my HR dropped to 42. That didn't seem to alarm anyone but me. Fast forward five weeks and SVT episodes return and I am put on Toprol and put on a 24/7 heart monitor for a week. The cardi...

Biotronik pacemaker?

Hello everybody!
I'm 29 and recently got diagnosed as having bradycardia (my heart rate is usually around 40) and chronotropic incompetence. I've also developed Dysautonomia when this all started, so I think it's all wrapped up in that. It's been ongoing for about 3 years, but until this past spring, every doctor dismissed me when I said I was exhausted, dizzy, and short of breath all the time, etc. Finally someone listened though, and now here I am getting a pacemaker in a few short wee...

Terrified. Possible infection in pocket

Hi all. Saw local cardiologist for redness and pain around PM site. Almost 7 weeks PO. He thinks the pocket might be infected. Ordered blood work, put me on antibiotic and he called my cardiologist in Rochester. I'm waiting to hear back Being new to all this I am terrified. What began as a strained pec seems to have morphed into a possible infection and possible surgery. Has anyone had an infection in pocket? How was it resolved? I am so distraught. Thanks Cardiac Tech and TracyE for your...

PVCs???

Good afternoon,

Does anyone either with ICDs or Pacemakers have PVC's either throughout the day and/or at night???

If so, do they drive you crazy like me or have you found a unique way to cope.

Thanks!

Ron
