I'm a new member....just one week ago had a real quick trip to Dr's...who immediately sent me to hospital for a pacemaker! I had no idea what a pacemaker is for and surely didn't know I had a problem! The nurse on CCU filled me in all about hers and just got it 2 months ago....Put me very much at ease awaiting my time for surgery. She also told me I must join a group online called the Pacemaker Club and here I am.
I had a Pacemaker Check on Thursday...all doing well. Yesterday I h...

On March 21st, 2013, I had PM surgery. My initial PM check up
was completed & was told I would be seen I several months. Today I saw my general doctor who said my heartbeat was 90 bpm. Has anyone else experienced this before? Is this cause for concern? Thank you.

We live in the foothills of the Appalachians near the southern end of the Trail - kinda out in the woods in North Georgia (Nawth Jawja phonetically to 'yankees).
Black bears are coming back & we have had a mature adult male trekking through out yard lately. Bent the wrought iron pole holding up our bird feeder. Carried away a bag of garbage into the woods & we have not seen it since. Hope he liked eating empty milk cartons!
This past Mon, I looked out the 2nd floor windo...

Went to the Dentist today and it's confirmed. Due to my hip replacement, any future Dental procedures: cleanings, fillings, etc. I now have to take 4 horse pills ....2000 mg. of amoxicillin 1 hour before appt. I didn't need this previously for the ICD.
So just a heads up, if anyone has any other implants, check with your Doctor or Dentist to be sure you don't need a pre treatment of antibiotics. He said my teeth are in great shape, so I'm happy I don't need to do that again for a...

How do you guys feel about a club get together? There is a perfect place close to here for a function. Check it out= Ammicalola Falls State Park in North Georgia. Just an idea. I think it would be cool to do as a group, and have an EP doctor and cardiologist come and sleek. The scenery here is amazing! Would be a good trip for those who could come...

Just wanted to say thanks for all the comments l have had during my latest "escapade", they really do help thankyou.
l am feeling more human today just a bit wobbly & tired but to be expected.
My partner reckons the whole experience was my birthday present from him................First a ride in an ambulance with blue lights flashing & a couple of hunky paramedics by my side.Next an overnight stay with meals provided. And because he splashed out on the "Luxury package" l was given th...

Hi everyone,
I hope you are all feeling well today.
I have one very quick question. A couple of weeks ago I posted that I was still having pains around the pacemaker site after 8 months,
One doctor I went to told me it was all in my head. so when I went to the clinic to have the PM checked they suggested that I go see the clinical psycologist. Do you all think this is normal? do they think it is all in my head & that I am imagining it all? should I go talk to this person...

A friend passed along this heads-up about her father's recent experience. I thought it worth sharing with the Club.
"Pacemaker's are wonderful and amazing, but I have a fresh experience I have to share from my dad -- and I'm sure he was just one of the unlucky 1%! (He's also a lot older than you.) He had a pacemaker put in in March 2012. Within the last several months he declined significantly -- fluid was accumulating in and on his lungs (had to be tapped several times!), he lost a lot of...

I wonder if any one else has thought of just ignoring what the report reads. 2,400,000 PAC runs in 56 days. Wow. Sounds terrifying. Doctor says no, not to worry. 6001 AHR episodes in same period. Wow again. If you feel fine and have no symptoms, not to worry says the doc. My AHR episodes have been going on for days says the report. My arm blood pressure taker and my wrist one says pulse in 60-80 range. BP from 110/60 to 130/70. If I am having AHR episodes shouldn't my pulse be faster? I really a...

Well l escaped the clutches of my local hospital yesterday mid afternoon.
Still don't have a clue as to what was wrong, never got to see cardiologist or have my echo.
They did manage to give me an exercise stress test but the tech' doing it said it was a waste of time because of me being in Afib all the time & because l was pacing most of the time it wouldn't show anything significant?
But me being me didn't come home alone.....................Yep l started vomiting in the early h...

I had a Medtronic SureScan pacemaker implanted two weeks ago for bradycardia after I flatlined in the ER, the fourth of four syncope episodes on Memorial Day morning. I'm feeling fine, but this whole thing is taking some emotional and physical adjustment.
I recently heard an odd two-tone beep, though. Does this pacer make audible warning sounds? I couldn't find anything on the Medtronic website or booklet.

This last week saw Sir David Attenborough implanted with a pacer while in Australia. May he be safe and well.
