Home :-)

Well l escaped the clutches of my local hospital yesterday mid afternoon.
Still don't have a clue as to what was wrong, never got to see cardiologist or have my echo.
They did manage to give me an exercise stress test but the tech' doing it said it was a waste of time because of me being in Afib all the time & because l was pacing most of the time it wouldn't show anything significant?
But me being me didn't come home alone.....................Yep l started vomiting in the early hours & then the other end joined in & was soon accompanied by some pretty painful stomach spasms. Talked to my lovely GP who reckons its the "Norovirus"which is common in our hospitals here.
Well l am managing to sip water & keep it in now,so thats a step forward so will try & have a nap now as l haven't slept properly since Friday.
On the plus side.................. l should lose a pound or two (Please)

.....................sorry to hear that you have had a bad time of it.

I don't know if others have experienced this, but somehow when you get into that 'Hospital Loop',...there always seems to be something that draws you back in,..just when you feel that you have escaped their clutches !!

You could try supplementing your water intake with a decent Gin and Tonic !!......(.JOKE EVRYONE!!! )

Best wishes Tattoo Man xx

Exercise test

by Selwyn - 2013-06-11 12:06:29

Hi Sue,
Sorry to hear you are not too well.
Some information`:
The exercise test is not 100% for picking up ischaemic heart disease, coronary angiography is used for the final diagnosis, however it is a useful screening tool. An exercise stress test will pick up changes in the ECG whether you are paced, or in AF, not to mention other rhythm changes associated with exercise.

Ignore what the technician said to you, please.

Suspected Novo virus closed 15 wards in England last month ( 9 ward closures have been confirmed due to novo virus in the last month). I would not like the rest of the world to think novo virus is other than an on going risk in all hospitals around the world. `Visitors to hospital wards in the UK are asked to use hand antibacterial gel before and after visiting the ward, to lessen the risk of transfer of germs. Especially as the weather warms up diarrhoea illnesses become more common in the community (patients to be) and therefore in the hospitals.

Sorry

weight loss the hard way

I had that virus a little more than a month ago,not a good time!
I thought it was the flu, even though I had the flu shot, knowing it doesn't cover everything.
I lost 7 lbs in 2 days, and heard noises from my tummy I thought weren't humanly possible! Plus the pains,I compare it to 4 babies in there playing soccer!
It was rough, but sipping water or Gatorade was all I could do,lasted 2 tough days, then it faded, and I was tired but alive.
I feel for you,not fun,Im sure by now youre feeling better, hang in there,it will pass, just don't stop it,if you know what I mean, thats what my fam Dr office said, faster its out the better, dont slow it down.
Hope youre better!

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
