On March 21st, 2013, I had PM surgery. My initial PM check up
was completed & was told I would be seen I several months. Today I saw my general doctor who said my heartbeat was 90 bpm. Has anyone else experienced this before? Is this cause for concern? Thank you.

Namely what your low rate setting is! F'rinstance - my lower rate is 75 BPM. But the only time I go that low is when zonked out of my mind & sound asleep. Otherwise, I'm operating in the mid 80's. No big deal. You have no idea what your heart rates were before the PM because no one ever checked on them - or even cared. All of a sudden, someone cares - you! And, you know what the HR is because you either take your pulse or you see the HR histogram in the PM download printout.
Hopw 'bout reporting that low rate setting? Then we can comment better.
How do you FEEL w/ the new PM? How soon did the GP take your pulse after you sat down? I'll betcha it was but a few secondds, as opposed to 10 min or so. Your HR would naturally be higher from walking around & into the room (unless you are in a wheelchair & someone is pushing you). Sit still for ten min & see what the HR is then - you will probably be pleasantly surprised.

What was the reason for your p.m? For instance, my rate used to be 40 or less With the p.m set at a minimum 0f 60 I would be happy to at 90. It doesn't sound something to worry about but a lot depends on why you had it fitted.

Hi not sure why you have a pacemaker but 90 is not that bad of a heart rate as it fluctuates all the time depending on any given situation mine is usually about that btwn 78 and 100 is normal for me if your dr said anything to alearm you ,you need to ask why Good luck

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.

90 Isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you'd just been walking, or if you were nervous, then I wouldn't expect it to be 60 or whatever your lower limit is. I noticed on me that when the pm was new and my heart had been too slow for years, whenever I got my rate up it took a long while to come back down. Now, if it's 90 when you're sleeping, if it's 90 and you feel bad, if it's 90 and irregular, then it's time to call the cardiologist.
