Well Monday is lead replacement day. (Just one for the ICD that I carry) Definitely different then original implant day. Had family to lean on at that time. This time at least physically I am on my own. Nothing is ever easy. Is there some pre-surgery anxiety, yes. Just got to roll with it. I think boredom will be my biggest challenge after surgery. Yes I have books and a couple of other things to do. I have never done well with physical limitations. I know there is support here and that is great...

I need some advice, or reassurance I suppose. Six months ago I was having a large amount of PVCs, more than normal, to the point that I couldn't stand it any more and went in. They did an echo and found that my ejection fraction was decreased at 46. They figured it was due to the fact that I was having so many PVCs at the time but wanted to do a 6 month check just to make sure things resolved. Well, the PVCs got better after a few days for the most part, still have them but not nearly as many a...

Hi, this is my first post after receiving the Medtronic Adapta whatever 10 days ago. Doing pretty well, but experiencing postural hypotension still. Cardiologist recommends full length compression stockings. Do any of you wear them and do you know where to buy them? My insurance will cover, but Walgreens considers them over-the-counter.
Thanks for any advice.

Hi
I had my leads implanted with my 1st pacemaker in 1987. One lead broke around 2000 and they could not get it out so fitted a new lead and left the old one in. Now my other lead is breaking. It has been in place for 26 years and they are talking lasering it out - has anyone any experience of this. When I look online it just seems to tell you the medical proceedure for the process and I want to know the risks, how it feels and the what to expect in recovery - is it any different from a bat...

I installed a set of LED spreader lights in a boat yesterday and when finished tried them. While the VHF radio was on and the lights were switched on the audio immediately was muted. When lights were off the audio returned. A few cycles of the switch yielded same result. Upon researching this am on the Internet it turns out that the circuitry on LED lights emits RFI and EMI which is relevant to the operation of the VHF radio aboard the boat AND MAY interfere with pulse generator (PACEMAKER) si...

Hey folks!! How y'all doing? Hope everyone is ok.
I have a quick question. I have just been out to buy a few things for my holiday and saw this lovely necklace. Just saw it and bought it. Got it home and found it connects round the front of my neck by a magnet. The necklace sits high up at the base of my throat. Is this going to be ok to wear? I just put it on to see If it did anything and I don't think it did but was constantly thinking about it. Am I being a bit silly? It's a magnet the s...

I just logged into the club to leave a message to frank and learned that frank is no longer with us. I know he has moved on to his next big adventure. I will always be thankful for the advice and clever kindness he gave to me. I am so sad to know I cant reach him here anymore. Gods Blessings to franks children and to all of us in the club who found a real friend with frank. Broken Heart RMGD

Hope to find everybody doing well. Myself, well lets just say I'm kicking. LOL
Anyway, I did have that talk with the kids yesterday along with some of my family. It was tough, but as I told them, I am planning on being around for some time to come.
My wife is feeding stuff that would put weight on anything, but I just don't feel like eating. I am forcing myself most of the time though.
The last few days were great days. Got outside and even did a little yard wor...

No I do not want to ask if the sun shines at night - although, I guess it does in Alaska! ha ha
What I need to know is about putting sunscreen on the PM site once it is totally healed. I know members say "keep your hands off!" But I also don't want that area to get sunburn. The only time it would be exposed would be in a swim suit on vacation or working out in the yard with a small strapped top.
Thanks for any suggestions,
juju
Screen or not to Screen

I will be taking my first flight since having my surgery for an ICD. My question to you is Screen or not to screen? While I have read to stay away from magnets, do not let the wand at the airport get too close to your device. Even read recently that it is safe to go through those screens and it is not a problem to have the wand close as long as it is not too long (20 secs). I have made up my mind as to what I will do just would like to get other peoples advice and opinion on what they do. T...

Hi guys,
I am 30yrs old anI have recently been diagnosed with Vasovagal Syncope (or neurocardiogenic syncope). During my syncope episodes my hearts stops (approx 18secs) hence the pacemaker.
Does anyone else suffer the same issue? How do you deal with it? what are your triggers? Does it get worse over time? Any hints and tips to improve my general health? What sort of settings with the pacemaker are useful?
Those are just a few questions that I have.

Greetings,
I read Tech's post on this, and the wonderful responses to the post. I still have a hard time understanding why I actually have a PM... I often wonder if meds alone would have been the way to go before actually having the implant. But, I was in the hospital, and several cardio dr's recommended the pm.
so, now I have it and I'm ok with it. But, on my last visit with my cardio, I expressed concerns about the meds I'm taking. I take 300 mg diltiazem every morning, and...

My daughter is having her pacemaker put in on the 10th of may. She is 10 years old and always been very healthy. almost a yeaar ago she broke her arm and had to be put onder to have it reset while while this was going on the doctors found that her heart rate had dropped down to 37. we left one hospital in our area and drove her to UPMC in pittsburgh. There they diagnosed her with complete heart block. They said that they can not tell us what caused this. They told us that she would need the surg...
